Hunting

I have a e89 23i and on cold start it hunts for maybe 20 30 seconds and smells rich. After that
it settles down and runs perfectly. Any one got a clue what this is before I start throwing parts at it.

If I don’t drive mine for a couple of weeks I find the idle a little erratic for the first few seconds before it stabilises. I put it down to oil slowly seeping back from the VANOS system as it’s fine when I drive it more frequently. Doesn’t appear to be sensor related or anything else, as they’ve nearly all been replaced!

My car warped cam cover.
Pull the coils, on mine no.4 from the front had oil around the coil pack.
