Hunter alignment troubles

Had the car aligned today for all specs inc castor and camber and it’s come back worse.

Steering wheel was offset before going in but it drove straight and felt fine. Wanted to get it all squared up and running properly true but it’s come back pulling to the left and feels really light in the centre. Basically it’s wrong.

Is there any special treatment these need being a “sports” car or should it really be very simple on a hunter machine?

It's probably only as good as the person doing it!

I had my car aligned by an ex-Sytner Indy who also used it for his race cars and it was transformed. :D

Sorry, but it sounds like you’ve been had.
A proper Hunter alignment gives you an accurate print out they can’t falsify.
Take it back, complain, get your money back and go somewhere better.
Wasn’t Kwikfit was it?

Kwik fit use the Hunter which is an excellent bit of kit.
Unfortunately as mentioned it’s only as good as the person using it.

Was a small local chain in the east midlands. It was close and honestly I didn’t see how you could get it wrong. I have a printout of the adjusted readings which are all now green, I’ll post it up tomorrow.

Post adjustments. Not sure why it’s so bad now. He noted the rear control arms arnt fantastic but all fine underneath other than that.

You can get them bang on when they are on the lift.
But if you have any worn bushes or arms it will pull it out of spec when under load driving and steering.

Technically they should be weighted when being aligned but many don’t bother.

When it comes to alignment, I’ve never had good experiences with chains. They all seem to rush it and do a poor job, I’ve always been happier to pay the extra and go to a specialist like Spires, Centre Gravity, String Theory etc.

Can anyone please recommend a company that will do it properly in the Bournemouth or surrounding area? Cheers

. Righto. Sorted I think. Went back in and was checked again and small adjustments made. Improved it quite a bit. Then while troubleshooting I read the eps has artificial self centering. This matters as before the alignment I had the steering wheel off and placed back on to the correct position as it was quite a few teeth off its proper place.

Reset the steering angle sensor on inpa, now it’s sorted and driving beautiful. No longer trying to pull me to the left.

Once again I was rescued by my fairy god father bigwinn. What a legend.

Somebody did well to get the wheel on wrong. Got to force it to overcome the master spline!

And with all due respect, it also shows the benefit of putting as much info as possible on the forum thread as it can trigger ideas from others.
FWIW, regardless of who does alignment for me, I always do a precautionary SAS recalibration both before and after.

Yeah not sure how or why but it wasn’t on right. All sorted now.

I had no idea assisted centering was even a thing but everyday is a school day.
