Hub Spigots

Twice a year when I change wheels on my 335 (summer/winter rubber) the wheels are really tight on the hub spigots. Ive tried copper slip and dry mounting them but the result is the same ie.They always need a good kicking to break the seal.

Does this happen on the Z4? Ive not taken a wheel of the car yet, like the 335 its been dealer serviced but I don't use it in the colder months so no winter tyres.

U should b able to ease them off by alternating your palms on each side of the wheel.

I kinda prefer when they’re wedged on, psychologically I kinda feel safer all the tension’s not just being taken on the bolts

When I decided to swap the wheels on my Z4 for a different style they took some "persuasion" to get off, but they had been on there for over 3 years!

But they come off my 3 Series easily enough when I swap between winters and summers each year.

I think most cars do it if the wheels aren't removed for any length of time!

The wheels are swapped Nov an April each year and require a few hearty thumps!
The crud / corrosion that remained was apparent on removal was sanded off each time but i suppose the dissimilar metals in contact doesn't help.

I was first made aware of this 50 years ago when I was a young engineer working on lighting equipment for marine/offshore locations.
