We're struggling with our own heatwave here in Nottinghamshire as well. Temperatures peaked at 15C yesterday.

Dubai reached 52 C last week, mini heat wave....

I was in Luxor 9 years ago and it reached 52. Thought I was going to shrivel up!

Snap! Stayed in the Sheraton, how about you?

You were there 9 years ago too?! My friends were in the Sheraton for a week after we left the cruise boat. Was in Luxor for two days then we went off to El Gouna

:) We only did a couple of day cruises up the Nile from Luxor, spent a couple of weeks there touring the temples & tombs (only in the early mornings) but yeah, was 9 years ago

Drove up from Phoenix to Vegas via the grand canyon in a soft top camero last November.

It was too cold to have the roof down (and went through lots of heavy snow). Once in vegas strolled round the strip in jeans and a jumper and certainly wasn't warm. Nearly froze on the top of the stratosphere tower one evening lol.

Want to go back though 8)

You say dry heat...but at about 5pm during the summer, it gets very humid and humidity goes up to 90%....and you sweat, and then even your sweat, sweats!!!

When were you there? We were there from 13th August (if I remember rightly)

I spent August in Muscat, Oman a few years ago and that certainly wasn't dry heat. Deeply unpleasant would be how I would describe it. It wasn't THAT hot - about 97-98f most days, but the humidity was something else. Within 2 minutes of walking outside from your air-conditioned hotel your sunglasses would mist over completely and you would literally be pouring in sweat. This from a slim, 6ft 1 bloke who doesn't sweat a lot either!!!

Oman is a lovely country. Thoroughly recommend it - just pick the right time of year to visit.
