Well - now that my Z4MC collection is imminent (tomorrow morning!!) thought I'd say hello. I've had 4 M3's in a row and felt like a change. Main drivers for this were :
1. Cost - similar age and mileage Z4MC costs much less.
2. Performance - Looking at the power to weight ratio, it struck me that the Z4MC can't help but be quicker than an E46 M3 and I think it may be pretty close to the E92 M3.
3. Economy - I loved the 3.2 six in the E46 M3. I did 89,000 miles in my first one and regularly achieved over 30mpg when I was commuting between Glasgow and Edinburgh for a year.
Already got a set of 19" CSL's sitting in the garage just waiting to go on.
One story I wanted to share as a warning, however. I wasn't offered a great partex deal from the dealer, so tried getting some web valuations. One of the better offers for my 08 M3 came from wewillbuyyourcar.com. So, warily, I agreed to the deal and a date and time for collection was agreed. When the driver arrived at my home all appeared to go fairly smoothly (apart from the tyre wear, but that was solvable as I had spare tyres in the garage). However, the guy from the actual company (driver was allegedly independent) then called me and said that their local BMW dealer had advised them that this model M3 with that mileage (just under 26,000) would be needing new disc and pads all round!! Complete drivel, but they then reduced the offer price by £1400. So, I declined, even though it was still a pretty good price, but I just won't deal with folks like this. This was bad enough, but when I agreed a sale price with my local dealer they HPI'd it and discovered that the web company had put a "stalker loan" on my car. This prevented the local dealer from being able to issue me with a cheque, so now I'm having to pay for the car with a credit card and incurring a 1% additional charge. Basically, avoid at all costs!! Complete waste of time and caused much stress and additional frustrations.
Cheers .. DC
