Howdy y'all!

Ed from North Carolina. I just bought my buddy's 2007 M Roadster.

Let's get that "worthless thread" thing out of the way, shall we?

Z4 M3.2 E85, with S54 engine.
Black Sapphire metallic, with black leather and "carbon fiber" leather dash.
Premium pkg w/BMW Assist (telephone & voice commands)
Dealer-installed heated seats (buttons on the seats themselves, not on the dash)
Pretty much everything except the CD Changer and Nav, far as I can tell.

I've already had to remove the BT unit to get the code to pair my phone.
Next mod is to wire the radar detector for power, and mount a switch for a garage door opener. Down the line is iPhone integration for music and nav, then the convertible top control mods.

This car is awesome.

My list of gripes is very short:
1. The range on the remote unlock is pathetic. I saw the aftermarket kits to raise/lower the top via remote, but I really question the point if I have to stand right next to the car to do it.
2. Holding those buttons to raise/lower the top. I've already found a solution for that. http://gap-tech.co.uk/oth.html
3. There's no convenient place to stow sunglasses. The ashtray bay looked promising, with the lid and all, but it looks like that's where my iPhone mount is going. http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/product/535/361/2point5-specdock-for-BMW-E85-Z4---w-DICE-Cable/

This forum is a fabulous resource. A short time ago, you had to buy the $200 service manual AND have a certified tech buddy to be able to do a small fraction of the mods and troubleshooting that's documented here. I love the Internet.

I love this car!

I have found the Mark4 armrest from LeatherZ to be quite useful

Wow. That looks awful... high. Is it comfortable?

The rear console is difficult to access from the seat; more convenient hidden storage would be nice.

You can extend the distance of the remote by double if you press the remote under your chin when you push the button. Give it a try!!

Hi and welcome.

I have installed a second first aid box under my drivers seat... Which I use to store my sun glasses.... Out of sight and easy to access when driving.

It is exactly the same height as the arm rests on the doors and I find it quite comfortable.
It also at the height at the gear shift...

Yes, I read that on the LeatherZ site. A personal validation is more meaningful. My left arm is typically resting on top of the left door, not the armrest (I'm 6'-2"). Anyway, at $115 it's one of the least expensive mods I've seen for this car, so I'll probably give it a try.

Thanks for the pointer.

Hey there and welcome. Where bouts in nc are you at, I grew up in Charlotte left during the build of the 485 monstrosity
