Howdy! New ///M owner

The quickest previous car was a 2004 (MK1) Audi TT 3.2 DSG w/ Quattro (which made for an awesome long distance tourer). The ///M, as expected, blows the TT out of the water performance wise!

Welcome to the forum . Car looks ace & sits well , is it spacered ?
Presuming the comparison with the V6 TT is on the run & in the bends as ive had 2 DSG V6s & a ///M roady & i would take the TT everytime for a standing start to 60  the M may be the winner on paper but reality is 99% of owners would struggle to hit those numbers whereas the DSG foot down hard just went like a bullet

You must have had a good one Mr W. My old Fiat Coupe used to blow those things away. Not that I ever tried to take one on from 0-60. Bad for the Transmission.

Lovely looking car. In the second photo it looks like you are running 290 rubber with the angle its shot at. Lovely car.

Take off speed is all due to mechanical sympathy I reckon. My CDV has just been removed and I can feel the difference but these ///M have to be mistreated to get off quick from a standing start. Even from a slightly rolling start no problem at all.

Maybe just me

Had 2 BG both with DSG box & found them super responsive going up gears (negatives are slow at times dropping gears approaching junctions) :driving: absolutely rapido from the off whereas as AlfaS says you need great mechanical sympathy to hit good numbers on the M from the line or there's going to be great noise , smoke & smells  in 7000miles of mine i never felt the speed until 2nd down hard into 3rd where they really come to life
I also think 99% of forum drivers would be away quicker to 50 in a 3.0Si auto than a M :o also great boxes far from lardy

There's no denying the 3.2 TT with DSG combined with quattro (and launch controlled standing starts) isn't slow, but it is quite uninspiring as a driver's car. I bought it because I loved them in Gran Turismo 1 and 2 on the early PlayStations to tick it off the list, and because I figured it should be a good tourer, it lived up to expectations perfectly taking it to Croatia and beyond. As a day-to-day car it could do everything, and being a 2+2 very practical. If it was our only car I'd have kept it for a while to come!

The difference (albeit very early days) with the ///M is black and white, it feels much more like it wants to played with, like it's begging for more. As something for driving pleasure I can already see myself smiling in it.

Perhaps it's coming from quick sportsbikes, the manual involvement and possibility of it biting you (hard) should it go wrong. That's not to say you ever want it to go wrong, of course not, but because the TT was soooo controlled, predictable, and in simple terms easy, it made it slightly boring.

It'll be interesting to see if the initial impression sticks or changes!

An imola M, lovely! Congrats!

Look forward to seeing some more pics once you've carried out your detail.

Gotta agree on the V6 TT , lardy & numb tool out in the lanes with nothing to spark a bond but their merits are there in other places . As a competent , comfortable touring sports car they tick all the boxes .
Had a couple of France runs in mine & really enjoyed it
The S54 M car i also took to France & whilst the actual drive there & back wasn't as comfortable or as frugal it more than made up for it when it came to thrashing the open country lanes :driving:
I seriously doubt you will be disappointed , every run out is theatre . the way they corner in & out at speed really flatters the driver as you would have to be doing crazy speeds to get it out of hand , grip is memorable  enjoy it , my weekenders do 2000/3000 a year , in the ///M roady i covered 7000 in 9 months :driving:

So I was fiddling with buttons today (setting up the DSP etc.) and randomly noticed another button next to the mirror adjusters... I pressed it and it turns out the car has electric folding mirrors! :D

(although I'd rather not have them as I don't see the point, plus it's a bigger expensive should anything happen to them)
