hey guys i have stebro performance muffler

yes! it drones bit, but the problem actually coming from inside the car because everything started to rattle, i hear it from the middle airvent and now from left drivers airvent too .Just afraid the whole interior might rattle as Z gets older

i actually like the drone at 2k rpm ( am i crazy? i like real boomy sound ), but can't stand the rattles in da cab .

so can anyone tell me how to stop the drone or possibly reduce volume of the exhaust?

BESIDES
1 put the oem muffler back
2 lose your oem resonator and put aftermarket X-LARGE flow restricted resonator.

i read post about the heat sheild but also read that increases the temperature too much , and will crack the weld.

help me out , i need solutions!!
thanks

I'm sure at that RPM you are just hitting the natural frequency of something behind the dashboard.

Solution is easy - either live with it, wait until the exhaust matures, pull the dash to bits to find whatever rattles or change something in the exhaust to prevent it. That could be a bit of a game, but suggest you start by email to the manufacturer and or speak to the shop that fitted it for specific suggestions, such as welding a damper onto it somewhere (autos have that as standard on 3.0i)

IMHO probably the biggest problem with aftermarket systems that are designed to create more noise as a by product tend to find more items to resonate to bits.

CJ - I have an exhaust resonance problem on my Nissan 4x4....given your Jeep experience can you just elaborate on what "welding a damper on it" involves? Tks!

WHICH ONE IS THE PART THAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT CJ?

Part 9 in the diagram. I would have thought that obvious from the parts listing?

It's just shown to illusrate that OEM BMW must feel on the auto that a damper is required.

Lacroupade is an off roader and therefore used to quick fixes, so I'm sure he'll be able to attach a lump of rubber to the exhaust with a jubilee clip (while cold) and move it around to see if he can effect the resonance.

I'd have no doubt that an exhaust shop can add a new mount fit a damper or some mod to alter the frequency of some part of the system.

are you accusing me of being a 4x4 bodger?

My hardcore friends just seem to revel in laying down in the mud and sh*t, in whatever clothes they happen to be wearing, to play about with busted stuff! I like to keep my offroad Armani clean...

No a bodger is a skilled craftsman who typically uses very green wood and turns it into chair legs, etc.

I suspect that you do as I do lying in the mud wondering how using a pair of zip ties a jack, socket set and bits of tree I'm going to fab up something to get me out of the forest or better still keep going all day :)
