How to stop a cat scratching my roof/jumping on my car?

Hi all

Bit of a weird problem

I've noticed various paw marks over my car for a few weeks on the bonnet (when the car is dirty) and knew something was up

Anyway tonight I caught a very cute cat sat on my roof scratching it as if it's a scratch post!

Very minimal amount of damage, just fluffed it up a bit. Now I'm a massive animal lover so shooting it isn't an option before anyone suggests that lol. But what can I do to stop this cat jumping onto my car and also scratching my roof? If it carries on much longer I fear it may scratch through?

This is an age old problem, been discussed many times with no real solutions. I'd buy a cheap roof cover, the material may deter the cat

Oh gawwd, not this whory old chestnut again!
Search through old posts asking same to garner suggestions ranging from setting up static charge on car, sprinkling pepper, employing the service of a large angry dog, to embracing any damage leveraged by mangy moggies......

Would have thought yor std "Kill them all" would come in handy here Chris :)

I use a cover but a neighbours cat took a liking to sleeping on it, I found a few weeks of "Get Off Spray" done the trick!

Here's my old thread about the same problem:

Still working a treat. I have a custom covers roof cover and have soaked it in the citrus screen wash.

Will share that with my neighbour, he's constantly cleaning cat hairs off the roof of his SL, mine lives in the garage luckily enough..

His owner's told me he's got a thyroid problem and he's half the weight he was in that photo. Little bag o bones at the mo. Don't think he's got long left. Poor little sod. :|

I'm with Chris - we have cats, although they are 'house' cats so they aren't troubling anyone else.

:D - can't beat a thoroughbred, highly strung and high maintenance but worth it

Chris, who has that cat been brown nosing ??
Dawg....Lion sh1t spread all over the car should do

I had the same problem, and came up with a solution, hat didn't involve dismemberment of the cat, as it is ours, and the wife and kids quit like it.

I parked the car near some conifers we have and ran a hose into the trees aimed at the car. I purchased a timer from eBay and set it to come on at regular interval for a short squirt. The cat doesn't come near the car for a couple of months and when it does I put the timer on. I figure the occasional blast of water is better for the car than the cat.
Something like this, but you need one that you can set to come on for a short period. I managed to set mine to spray for about 10secs every couple of hours

Works a treat and pretty cheap
