With all this cold weather, rattles and squeaks become more apparent due to contracting interior trims. I thought id start a thread for anyone to illustrate where are good spots to insulate to make their Z4 that little bit of a better place to be! So ill start!

Description: Squeak in cold weather when going over road undulations
Area: Front/Lower/Centre cockpit.

I found this annoying squeak to be the gap between to front lower dash, and the centre console (just above the ash tray). A simple fix was just to place a small 1" Sq peice of Velcro (the fluffy side!) in between the gap.

Job done  More to come as i start gutting my car!

More please! I have an annoying rattle that has appeared coming from the rear centre console (i.e. around the CD changer)...

I have this anoying rattle in my car but only when my better half is in the passenger seat.....

I have a rattle that sounds like its coming from the top part of my seat belt, just behind my head - Although I havent checked it out properly. When I do, I'll edit this post with a picture :)

When your soft top is down? If so then, this is a known issue, which I also have.

You need to take the back centre console out and stick some foam in the top bit.

Top up I'm afraid!

I have a squeak/rattle on the roll hoop covers

It only happens when the top is up and appears to be the soft top tightly wrapped over the roll covers that causes it.

When the car flexes over certain bumps and potholes, the roll hoops squeak - that's what i think

anyone have this and know how to fix?

the problem is completely gone when top is down. actually, car has not even a squeak or rattle when top is down. At least none that i notice! :)

I get lots of 'creaks' from the plastic section in the roof by the interior cabin light. One day maybe i'll take it apart and see if anything can be done

Mine used to have that too - if I squeezed the two parts of the roll hoop cover together the sqeeking stopped. There are two ways to stop it that i can think if, tape the two halves together, REALLY tightly orrrrr break them off and buy new ones from a dealer, ensuring you replaced the REALLY important gasket at the bottom (it keeps the halves lined up and stops the problem occuring again...

I have that same rattle on one side...

tape on the role bars...oh my that does not sound very flash. May just turn the stereo up to drown it out!

I complained of a vent ratlle and got it replaced under warranty - legendary

Ergh, my Coupe is full of rattles at the moment. But tbh, most of it is down to the Recaro seats i think. I think I need a new seat slider on the passenger side as that is causing some annoying rattles, and I'm using univeral side mounts for the seats which would be better off replaced with proper Recaro ones.

The only "factory" rattle is a squeak from the dash area. It's oinly if i hit big bumps in the road, and it seems to stop once the car warms up. Not sure if it's the same squeak as mentioned at the start of this thread as I can't pinpoint where in the dash its coming from, but definately going to check this out after seeing this post.
