How to retrofit FL indicator on pre FL

Then I have retrofitted the FL indicator side marker on my 2009 Z4 35i :D

This is the part numbers right and left:
63137303243
63137303244

This is how it looks like from BMW:

Then I separated the indicator in two pieces and sent it for the paint shop. It got back in a Maserati colour called "Grigio Mercury".

Then I mounted them together:

This tap is the only thing you have to do a modification on:

You can brake this tap off with just your fingers, the double sided tape from BMW is enough to get a really good stick to the fender:

Take the old indicator off, this was a little hard:

The connector is the same:

Then it is connected, then you just take off the security tape and pop it in to place:

Result:

The indicator work fine and there is no warnings on the instrument cluster :D

Good luck

I like this mod/update, i`ll order these when i`m back off holiday.
Nice work BMWZ. What is next on your mod list

How did you get the existing indicators out? Mine are due this week and if I could get a hint on how not to damage my car while getting these out, I'd appreciate it...

Great little Mod, definitely want to add these to mine as I always thought the indicator on the prefacelift looks a tad bland, as maniac mentioned can you say please how you removed the indicator, unsure if it says in the handbook or not for changing the bulb.

Tim.

Can it be pushed out from the inside if the wheel arch plastic is removed?
I'm a bit suprised BMW aren't being a bit mean and not supply these for a while :) as its one of the few obvious differences from the earlier model.
The original indicator does look a bit lost.

Wow looks great... Love the colour much better then the chavvy chrome!

I used a plastic wedge to take it out from the outside of the fender. I think the originals also are led, so BMW does not build it simple to change these.

Heres a picture of the old one from behind:

Thanks, yes I think they look great in this grey colour. Wanted them first in black, but the painter messed up and painted them gray as I sprayed my grill in this Maserati grey colour as well

Maniac - I don't know how to paste the link into this thread - but if you go to a thread by me starting "Does anyone know..." posted on 1st September 2012 and follow the replies to my query there's a link there to a thread on another forum with photos showing how to remove the side indicators. Basically all you need is a long, thin screwdriver applied from the inside of the engine bay/top of the wheel arch. One of mine had water in it and so I replaced. Hopefully this thoughtful, helpful and prompt reply will unduly influence you if you decide to sell your 313's!

Look great my friend, May well fit a set to mine but get them carbon wrapped first any one priced them up in the UK ?

You can easily access the rear of the indicators with your fingers via the access gap at the top of the lower wings or if your fingers are too short a flat bladed screwdriver/trim removal tool. Just push on the clip to release the housing.
