How to replace/install metal top frame header?

Hi all

I recently had my top replaced and unfortunately the installer used a drill on the screws that attach the front of the top listing to the aluminum top frame. So, he used some kind of bonding to secure the screws. Meanwhile, he broke two of the screw clips that are used to secure the interior plastic top frame trim piece. Also, he used rivets to secure the interior listing of the canvas top instead of the screws. He said they were all stripped out... probably because he tried to use a drill. Arrrgh.

I do have a replacement metal top frame that appears in excellent condition and all the screw holes are great.

I'm concerned about replacing the one that in there now due to worries about alignment or other issues that I'm completely ignorant of. I don't have a trustworthy installer (yet), but I just wanted to get some advice from the forum as to whether I should either:

1. keep the current metal top frame in place and fix the problems with it
2. remove and replace the old one with the "new" (to me) piece

I just don't know if I'm opening a big can of worms or if replacing the top frame is basically just plug and play.

Any thoughts are gratefully welcome!

Thanks

For bonus points: any idea what the part numbers are for the screws that attach the listings to the top - both the front and interior listings?

I had a new top installed by a local shop recommended by the vendor a couple of years ago. Just recently had to do a repair and boy did they do a half A job. Screws missing, wrong fasteners, plastic glued together. what a mess!
