How to remove top latch

I know I’ve seen this but I can’t find it again. How does that upper piece of the center console come off so I can get to the latch? Anything I need to know? The latch drags on the headliner, doesn’t actually do anything anyway.

I could do with a how to guide to remove this as mine is marking the head liner just above the rear window

Open the storage hatch, you can then access the two screws at the top that hold the top section in place. Pull out the collars then you can remove the top trim.

I’ve uploaded a copy of the cd changer install document which shows you how.

Thank you. That was less fun than I thought it would be. One has to remove the whole upper console cover thing to access the two bolts on the side of the latch, or cheat as I did and use a wobble driver.

It is a bit of pain, I remember doing mine. For anyone else looking to do this there is a guide on here somewhere, I looked at it before I did mine. The added benefit to doing this is it not only stops the roof lining getting damaged but it also stops that god awful annoying squeaking noise from the catch release lever when the roof in down.
