HOW TO REMOVE DASH TRIM

After trawling for ages looking for how to guides to do this i couldnt really find a proper one. So ill write a basic how to.

What Youll Need:
2 flathead screwdrivers,
A paper clip
A plastic thingy (see photo)

Step 1.
Remove centre vents, a lot has been written about this so i wont go into too much detail but the easiest way i think is to shine a torch into the vent to have a good look, then using the paper clip hook down the catch and pull the unit out about 5mm so it doesnt go back, then put a bit of card down so it doesnt slip back, repeat on the other side then pull the whole vent out.

Step 2.
Remove the radio, there are two screws that is it. Then pull it out a bit more and release the wiring block on the left by the catch, and then the ariel on the left. Should be pretty simple and come out.

Step 3.
Remove the passenger vent. There are two phillips screws for this, one is in the cup holder area so just open the cup holder, close the sprung bit and undo that screw. Then use your plastic thingy to pry off the screw cap at the top and undo that one too. The unit should come out with a little teasing.

Step 4.
Back to where the radio was, There are 2 more screws there to undo.

Step 5.
Behind the passenger vent if you put your hand in is a clip thingy, see photo below. the top needs to be pushed together and then up to get it out. The ring sits behind it so dont let that drop away. Its the nearest clip to the vent if that makes any sense.

Step 6.
Prise off the whole dash, carefully. It should come off nicely

Step 7.
Install new dash, and reverse!

Are you going to supplement this with a centre console how-to as well ?

Took mine off to wrap it today. I'm glad you took the time to take pics and write this because I didn't.

I'm actually surprised there aren't more how to's for this on the net. I went off bits and pieces of info from a few sites and diagrams of the dash on realOEM.

Good luck with the centre console. I've not done mine yet but have taken various panels around the centre console and rear cubby of a few times for other things in the last few months.

Look forward to that. I need to swap my center console, or plastidip/leather wrap it so it matches the rest of my interior

change of plan, was going to crack on with the centre consol tonight but had a few too many after work so this will be delayed till tomorrow.

I think in my semi intoxicated state i can manage the steering wheel so going to do that tonight instead.

p.s im not taking the whole thing off, i reckon you can do it without.

If your talking spokes these can be removed without removing the wheel, just the airbag need to come off unless that is you have pedals the I think it's a wheel off job

Even with the paddles you don't need to take the wheel off, just the airbag. Standard wheel, you will still need to remove the airbag. Don't forget to disconnect the battery for 30mins before taking it of. Not sure I would attempt this even only half cut :!:

only just got back from the pub so NOT GOING TO ATTEMPT TO REMOVE MY AIRBAG, had to stop some suited prick hitting his misses, not on at all.

what tools do i need tomorrow?

cheers
