How to remove 03 E85 front badge

How do you even remove the badge? just wedge it out or do you have to remove the grills and there is a nut or something like that under the badge that needs to be removed first?

while we are here, manual says all unleaded petrol is fine but would you only put unleaded petrol 98? or 95 and 91 are also acceptable?

I had to replace mine. I removed the support ledge, (7 torx bolts). This gave me enough flexibility to undo the badge and replace it with a new one. There are 2 nuts that secure the badge, just be sure you don't over tighten them because they will break off easily. When reinstalling the support ledge, take notice to the bumper/hood/fender alignment.
The reason I did it this way is because I was worried about breaking the grill(s) especially after BMW Service Manager said that would happen. Someone on this forum did the same thing, that's why I gave it a try. I'm sure someone on here will give you different directions.

As far as petrol, highest premium octane where I am in the US is 93...so that's what I use.

Easier to just pull the grills out :wink:

They won't break that easily. Hold at the bottom and lift up and pull.

Nope, they just push right back on. Just make sure you press right round the edge so that all the clips click into place. As srhutch says, pull the bottom of each grille out and upwards - I take mine out every time I wash the car and find a short sharp yank does the job.

He drinks a lot of coffee and always finishes the donuts though :x

nope. they pop out and pop back in again.

In fact, you will be surprised as to just how easy they are to remove.

Ended up popping out the grills and doing it that way.
Those nuts were a bi*** to take off though.
All done now, carbon fiber front emblem as well as wheel caps looks good.
