How to: program keys for triple turn (Newbie with 2006 Z4)

Great to be here. Have just taken delivery of my first Z4 (2.0iSE - 2006).
I now would like to understand if I can program master keys to have the indicators ‘triple-turn’ signal, or is that only a dealership that can facilitate?
Also, passenger seat belt tensioner looks to be on the way out. Has anyone replaced this easily?

The 3 flash to turn is done via coding I have done this to both of my Z4’s using Carly but have let my subscription lapse as it is £56 per year. There are lots of forum members that do coding for a small charge or free

Triple flash is a car option not a key option from memory.

If you have the software SSS or similar you can code yourself. Lots use Carly with their dongle, which is much more expensive than the software option with obd interface.

Thanks both! The drivers manual suggests it’s a key option programmed by dealership. I’ll have a look at Carly and OBD interface.

If you buy a Carista to use the app on your 'phone, buy their own OBD unit about £20 I think. When you get it, it has a month free use at pro level before they charge £33.99 a year you have to set that up, use your month then cancel it before the month is up, unless of course you want to subscribe

just checked on my carista and it says it doesn't code the E85?? I bought mine for the VW. Anyone know if they have changed functionality recently? :?

Yeah, I just enquired too. Carista does a basic level diagnostic but not ‘features’. Ho hum.

I had it programmed on both my previous E86 and my current ones by very helpful forum members who had Carly as it was already programmed on my 3 Series and I find it really useful - especially when both cars have it!

Disconnect battery, seat out, one Allen key bolt plus pretty easy electrical connector dismantle. Then reverse to put the new one in.
Theoretically easy, but a faff to do. Don't bother unless you know there is something wrong with it.

Thanks, I think I had this problem with a (very) old BMW, previously - and you're right! I think they had a problem with the sensors! The passenger tensioner is pretty poor tbh, so may have to bite the bullet once able.

I think the OP may have confused the seat belt tensioner with the inertia reel pulley. Two different things. Inertia reel retracts the seat belt back into its rear bulkhead housing when you remove it after driving and the tensioner is located under the seat and yanks the seat belt tight across your chest as the airbags go off during a crash.
If your seatbelt is slow to retract when you unclip it then the belt may just be twisted immediately in front of the inertia reel. This link is for a walk-thru seatbelt inertia removal on a Z4M but I would imagine other than the battery being in the way in the boot that it is identical

Anti-submarine belt is a 5th/6th belt added to a 4point harness between your legs to stop you going down and under the buckle in a huge shunt. There is a hard plastic/metal plate in the base of most road car seats to stop you 'submarining' also.
The explosive seat belt pre-tensioner (its correct name) is mounted below the buckle and pulls the seat belt down 2 or 3 inches during a crash taking up any slack and engaging the inertia reel at the other end of the belt thereby fixing you rigidly in your seat. https://youtu.be/A1N3rxnGWpw
