How to mount the beast?

Ok, serious not serious question.

Coupe owners. Share with me your years of ownership wisdom. How the heck do you get inside without straining your neck or exit gracefully without looking like you should be taking the special bus?

I've mildly strained my neck twice in the 3 weeks I've had mine.

Whats the secret? šŸ˜†

If you hit the unlock button on the key twice the window will open
I find it helps, especially being over 6ft.

Sell your car mate and get a bus pass  Your obviously of a certain age or stature that bending your knees has become an issue  . Seriously, the car is there to be enjoyed and should never be a pain in the neck (apart from when you have breakdown problems). You don't or should never need to be a contortionist to get in and out of the car without causing serious injury. Maybe take a closer look at some yoga classes to help with your flexibility issues. Just don't take your angle grinder out to cut out a larger hole to get greater access

If your car doesn't do comfort opening when the window drops on two clicks of the fob, you can get it coded to do so.

Alternatively, swap it for a roadster and then with the roof down you should have no entry/exit issues and can enjoy the summer too :D

Stop worrying that people are pointing at you for buying a roadster with a roof. :poke: :D
Without the constant looking from side to side to see who's laughing your neck will soon feel much better.

This should sort it.

Window down does genuinely help. That is what I do if I have to put my roadster in the garage with the roof up, because it's got wet. Doesn't happen much. :D

I've no problem getting in and out of mine (with either OE or Recaro seats) but I'm short-ish and fat :D

I tend to bend at the waist, sit onto the side of the seat, twist my body in whilst pulling my legs in.

Hire a Lotus Elise for a day, your z4 will feel like a limousine when you get in it again

Place your left arm on the roof, take the weight of your body on your left lower arm and drop bum on the seat and swing legs in
With a bit of practice it comes easy. I have lower back sciatica so some days getting out is a bit harder but i have strong arms/legs
I keep thinking of a change but the coupe would be hard to let go :driving:

I'm assuming you have electric seats. I have my seat preset 1 set to my normal driving position and my preset 3 set much further back and slightly higher. This helps me when I'm forced to park in tighter spots and can't open the door fully.

Ok so to get in: left leg in car first whilst resting right hand on door sill by jam then put your bum in the seat and carefully bend and lift right leg in car. To get out: open door :D put you right leg out, put right hand on door sill and swing out left leg. Simples. It helps if you are only 5'6" tall and fairly slim though. For left had drive do it backwards. Hope this helps.

Which fits nicely with the thread title. :)

I don’t have a problem getting in and out, but today I studied my technique which consists of:
- left leg in
- pivot hips
- fall in
No hands involved. I’m 5’11ā€ and my back is not great. Hope that helps.

I've had Coupes for nearly 8 years and never had a problem, other than when people park so close I can hardly open the door. :headbang:

Never really analysed how I do it though!
