How to modify your CDV (Clutch Delay Valve)

Anyone in the South near to me had this done recently? Looking for a recommended place to get it sorted

I had it done at ETA Motorsport near Brands Hatch. Well, I took a modified valve to have them fit it. Well recommended, they're a great bunch who know M cars inside out.

I know you are ... I even had to walk in the pub to get your drink :D

So i ordered a CDV, 6 WEEKS ago :tumbleweed: , and i finally get a call from my dealer yesterday to say it has arrived.

I went home n found an old drill bit and i started to hit the piston through the bottom of the valve, but the drill bit was the only part that came through the bottom. not happy. :headbang:

what to do now - keep attacking this new CDV and try to destroy the piston or take out the original and hope that one at least works out ok. I was more interested in just deleting it and replacing the CDV and rubber line with a new braided hose, but i cant seem to get a hold of one.

Does anyone know where to get the braided lines from? have been searching everywhere.

Just got my car back from an inspection 2 service and got the CDV removed. So much better! It was simply removed and the two pipes joined to one another.

Mark at MJF Engineering Is a very nice independent specialist, knowledgable and fair prices. He's based in Holmwood near Dorking, Surrey.

How much did he charge if you don't mind me asking?

I had it done as part of an inspection 2 service and an MOT so don't know. He charges £60 per hour, and I can't see it taking more than 30 minutes to be honest.

If you give him a call and say you'd like the same thing done as Leon had, he'll be able to tell you - 01306 713232

I'm looking for someone in the East Mids or South Yorks area to do my M. Got the modified CDV from Zeckhausen, just trying to find someone I trust to fit it.

anybody in the manchester area to do a CDV swap?. i dont fancy turning up at a garage and explaining it, i would rather them have some experience of doing one before?

Guys print off the CDv instructions in the how to section. I got my mot tester to do it, it took 5 mins for him to get it sorted, any mechanic will know what to do.

He charged me £5 for it lol

Did you get this fitted as i want to do it.

Also does anyone in the uk sell this part or is it Zeckhausen only?

Thanks :)

Hi... I'm brand new here, got a Z4C just over a week ago.

Generally delighted, and had already done all the little things (stubbie, ZHP, etc) but was feeling quite regretful over the poor gearing changes until I came across the CDV issue on this forum. Read up on it today, and deleted the CDV when I got home from work this evening. Sooooooooo happy.

I would strongly urge any Z4 owner contemplating this modification to get rid of the CDV immediately, it feels that I can now really enjoy the car as nature intended :driving:

Thanks for the great information :)

I know, it has been done to death, but I'm wondering if any Aussie forum members can recommend a capable BMW mechanic in SE Qld that could carry out this mod for me?

I could have a go, but I know from bitter experience I'm better off paying someone that knows what they're doing to do it...
