How to mend a broken heart...

I went coupe too... I would never have thought to buy a Z4 if they hadn't offered a coupe. Plus it was the cheapest way insurance wise for me to get into an M car.

I dont think the roadsters look anywhere near as good as the coupes, in fact I never really liked the roadsters at all, some great ones on here but would never buy one. The roof makes the Z4. Never been much of a fan of soft tops, they just dont make sense in the UK IMO.

The coupe is one of the best looking, understated, underrated and rare cars of modern motoring. The roadsters even in M guise just look like all the rest of the millions of roadsters knocking about the UK.

Saw one the other day and the only way I could tell was because of the noise as it drove past until I saw the quads.

Ouch, that is not good.

Glad to hear you are there to tell the tale though. Ashame, was a nice car as well :(

Yes glad your okay and commiserations for your loss. Just a left field suggestion can you stretch to an e89 35i with DCT then you have the best of both worlds. Yes I know it's not a M, but you may like it.

Mods be aware, Sars is a double agent for Mercedes :spy: and blatantly trying to poach the young and impressionable when they are most vulnerable :stir:

:P :P :P :P

Now if I had said SLK 55 :poke:

my Z4 M Roadster was destroyed in a terrible accident. Many have told me I am lucky to have walked away alive (...and I believe them) - more so than that - completely unharmed apart from some whiplash and a couple of small bruises!
If your Roadster was destroyed and you consider yourself lucky to have walked away virtually unharmed, then it seems unlikely that the car overturned in the accident and your head didn't make contact with the road or any other object. If that's correct, I'd count my blessings and learn my lesson and put a roof over my head. I've never owned a ragtop, and never will, for that very reason.

Some interesting points made, thanks for sharing your experiences!

So far I'd say I'm feeling 54% coupe, 46% roadster

- Safety is a good point
- Residuals seem neither here nor there...
- durability of the roof - I can see your point
- I did use the roof alot... But I don't know if I would mind not having it...

I think the comment that I should drive one is true, and I will make sure I do before deciding.

Or the induction noise that booms through the cabin in the coupe

With the howl of the exhausts behind your head

Na they look like they dont fit and are a pain in the ass to fit too... from the amount of posts on here +add another £1000 to the cost of the car.

There is nothing... NOTHING... that even comes close to the Z4 M in terms of value for money out there at the moment. It's cheaper, more reliable, more fun, better equipped, better looking, rarer - and as I found - safer, than anything comparable in terms of performance and general purpose.

Couldn't agree more!

Which is better? Coupe or Roadster? They're both great cars, but trying to decide which is best is like figuring out the meaning of life.

All I know is that I love my Coupe!!!

Roadster with a hard top, best of both worlds :-)

I think they look hideous and cannot be compared to the M Coupe in any way.

I know someone that keeps a roadster for summer days, a coupe for winter, 6 months tax at a time.

Knowing the British climate I suspect he/she uses the Roadster in the winter and the Coupe in the summer!!
