How to I make my roof look new again?

I've read LOTS of posts via the search thing tonight, but I don't feel alot clearer.

I've read the debates over sealing with AG or using the BMW stuff and letting water permeate through.
I'm not sure on price differences, but seems there are people that use both.

The hood on mine has quite a few fold marks and isn't very black. It's only an 07 plate, so I think just needs some tlc.

Ideas welcome.

I bought an '07 Zed two weeks ago, an AUC. I used AG on the hood and it made the world of difference.. £20 well spent. You've probably seen the AG application tips but if not, don't rub the hood too hard else you'll risk damaging the fabric, and apply the sealant with a 2" brush to avoid overspill marking the paint & glass (easily fixed with AG SRP).

In my (& my wife's) opinion, the roof now looks a lot blacker and the fold marks have all but gone. A perfect job for this weekend given the weather?

Nice car BTW.

Depends on how faded the hood is. A good clean may be all you need. If not Renovo Soft Top Reviver will bring the black back - it's a borderline dye so will make your roof very black like new.

I've bought the revivor, just waiting for it to be delivered.

Still not sure whether to AG seal it or use BMW protection. Read threads and people seem to use both. Car is garaged every night so doesn't get wet as often as some, but it is used everyday.

I've used these products for 15 years on various cloth tops with predictable results. My only caution would be to avoid spraying the protectant too heavily as it tends to silver.

Hi Hark,

I used the Renovo Reviver to bring my roof back to "new". My roof looked much like yours - not terrible, but definately dull.. After using the Reviver the roof was like new - no fold marks and vibrant black.. Of course after dropping the roof down a few hundred times it's now time for me to reapply the reviver.. It's been about a year I guess since I last used it.

I taped up all of the windows etc, but to be honest it wasn't really necessary - the Reviver comes off the glass (and any panels you drip onto) really easily.I used the Reviver and then treated the roof with BMW's own stuff for protection even though I bought the Renovo sealant.

My roof starts to fade due to sunlight and not so much wet weather here in Australia - our summers are rather brutal, and our winters pretty mild.. And unless it's raining my roof is dropped every drive - and it's a daily drive for me..

Cheers,

Nelson.

I'm liking the brush tip - bleeding obvious but should save having to clean the windows/paintwork! Nice one!
