How to get to the battery!

Hi all,

Hope you're all well :)

I'm trying to upgrade my push/pull to pull/pull paddles...I have all the kit and some excellent instructions. First step...disconnect the battery. Hmmmm so how do I get to it? From looking at a service manual it looks like it's in the boot, in the middle of the floor.

This is probably a really dumb question, so I'd appreciate an equally sarcastic answer! ;)

Yes it's that easy. Just under there you will find the battery. The positive terminal has a special type of terminal cover that in the event of an accident disconnects itself to stop any electrical fires. You'll need a 8mm socket or spanner if I recall to release the nut on the terminal clamp.
 
You can also get to it from underneath.

1 jack car secure with axle stands.
2 cut around the bottom of battery box with circular saw. Make sure you are not directly underneath while cutting.

But i would do as above just lift the carpet thing up :thumbsup:

Ah a good old car forum ribbing!! Having now tried it and realised the cover just comes out in your hand, I feel suitably daft! Thanks all :)

It's alright, I heard some right edjit a having conversations at the garage last week. There is always someone with a silly question at the garage and I want to hit them over the head and check they have a licence! Your not yet at that level :P

In all seriousness there are no silly questions. And as highlighted my grasp of English is quite terrible :)
 
I am not always on the beers!!! Tonight last night even Sunday night no beers!! Tomorrow the wife's birthday nobody will have a clue what I am trying to say!!

Just ruined the boot on me ///M. :wink:

At last - someone like me brilliant I know "jack al" about cars but love driving and washing and polishing them.... any way I thought the battery was in the front like my ford focus until I went to have new wheels put on and was looking for the locking nut ! :oops:

Battery is under a cover in the boot

I've been wanting to instal paddles on my E85 3.0 auto but have struggled to find the kit to do it

Could you please tell me where I can buy them, I've mailed a couple of companies that I found on line but they haven't replied

I'm happy to lend a hand if you are near me in Kent

I have a nice warm, dry garage
