how to get superglue off ??

whats the best way to remove superglue from a bonnet? i left a tube of superglue on the driveway by accident and my housemate drove over it and some landed on his bonnet somehow.....

Hi,

what I'd try is spraying freeze spray (used for chewing gum removal among other things) on it and trying to get under it with a plastic scraper.

Hopefully the car was not spotlessly clean and it hasn't adhered to it fully due to dust dirt etc. :!:
 
You can buy superglue remover, just give it a little google... Spilt some superglue onto one of my suits and it got it off perfectly. Not quite the same as a bonnet but should work...

they damage paintwork though.
 
I think acetone (a.k.a. nail polish remover) is supposed to work too, but that might do a job on your paintwork as well.

Whatever you try, you might have to resign yourself to doing a bit of polishing afterwards.

I used acetone, the one you can get over the counter in Europe, to try and get some glue residue off a set of numbers off my race bike bodywork, looked fantastic as I wiped over it, no glue, lovely shine, till it dried or evaporated, then a case of 'oh sh!t' :o , be careful with that.

Why don't you see if it can be machined of by a detailer. It would only be the same as wet sanding the bonnet and then there will be no paint work damage.
