How to Embed Web Link in Text

I see posts where the person has embedded a link to another thread or a web site into text. The text appears blue and clicking on it sends you to that link. It is much cleaner looking than pasting a long URL into your post. I used to know how to do it and the Z4UM web site had instructions. Could we perhaps have a sticky on this?
