Anyone else reading this ? bought it recently in Tesco at a decent reduction, Something i thought before I bought the book was we have probably 25 cook books in the house but very few books on Driving Skills , interesting book so far - some Top Gearesque writing that is n't needed . He seems so far to have some issues in the methods taught in Roadcraft - which i think i might also buy for the opposing view . liked his bit regarding heeling and toeing being almost impossible in most of the cars he drove for top gear.

Am I alone in my lack of reading of Driving Skills books - slightly  by the lack of reading ive done on this subject considering the miles I've driven and the amount of time spent reading car books , mags and forums ( I know in ancient Latin its Fora but can't bring myself to use it in 2014)

If its super cheap I'd consider it. I'd rather have hands on instruction in my own car to learn more though as telling someone how to do something and actually doing it can be worlds apart.

I bought it hard back for £9 from Asda so cheap enough !

Only flicked through so far but liking it - I have read one or two other books but years ago ! Ben is quite opinionated - though I see his point ( which I've NOT read in the book yet) that other Top Gear presenters capitalised on the programmes' global success where he didn't - so can't really blame him for doing so now.

His brief stint on Fifth Gear highlighted that whilst he's a great driver he maybe wasn't the most endearing presenter. I'm looking forward to reading it more if I can just prise it away from Mrs Jax - oh and find the time to read !

I read his autobiography - it was in the library on the cruise (boaty type, not burnout type) we went on earlier in the year.
Does that count?
It says other than fifth gear, he was on telly doing something else ( but I won't spoil it for you if you haven't read it yet ;-) )

Always sought out and enjoyed reading motoring theory books (both motorcycle and car) and have paid for advanced training.

Always something new to learn and I've found you can apply much that's presented - then there are the times it pays off . . . .

Had a really useful conversation with a friend who is a professional and he talked me through why I preferred charging uphill rather than downhill. Loved it - I thought I knew about car balance until this guy took me through the detailed physics and applied it to the practical - it all made complete sense and came with advice for the future, which I have no doubt will help me enjoy downhill far more - we shall see.

For me, like any other skill, it's about accepting you can learn more - then practice and improvement. These days the roads are so busy that any extra insight and training can't be a bad thing. It's about car control but there is so much more that can be learnt about reading the road as well, so as to make safe progress. (Notice the safe came first!)

Yep - I'll be seeking that book out and enjoying a read.

:driving:
