How to chnage LPFP

Dos anyone knows how long dos it take to change low pressure fuel pump which is located in the fuel tank? any indications where is the access to LPFP and fuel filter? maybe an video somewhere? I am not planing to do this job alone but garage where i am planing to take the car told me they have no idea where pump is located or how to get to it...so i want to arm myself with knowledge and appear to be smart :)

Go back in Realoem to your car, but i think they are pretty much all the same.
Big job i think the prop shaft and exhaust have to be dropped.

Try this as well, it may have the step by step instructions to do the job
Find your model and then try and find the part with the instructions to change it.
 
Are you outside the UK OP..? If not this gaff you’re taking the car to sets alarm bells ringing imho....personally I wouldn’t be entertaining a place that can’t be bothered to find out what you need by themselves, unless it’s a pal you trust I guess.

I can just imagine what response I’d get if I turned up at a customers house wanting an extension building and I said I have no idea how to build one but if they find out for me I’ll build it..... :o
 
Perhaps he wants to know if it's 10 minute job or get fleeced for a 5 hour job.
I would have thought 2 hours at most.
Take me all day if i had to prop it up on house bricks and a few cups of tea..
 
Thanks guys. I did find BMW specials who will charge me 280 Euros. I think i will go with him...saying that if this is 2h job 280 euros is probably close to what bmw would have charge me :o

I’d be interested to learn the outcome on this. A few years ago I had a LPFP replaced under BMW warranty and the dealer had the car for a day and a half. Once fitted they said the new pump had to be coded to the vehicle. I was also told that if I’d been paying myself the cost would have been close to a thousand pounds! Might have been b******t but glad I wasn’t footing the bill in any case.

The pump had got incredibly loud and the senior tech at the dealers had no hesitation in approving the repair......phew!!

I have a quote for 280 euros to change the pump...with BMW specialist...will take the car in a week or so.. and i got LPFP for 200euros ( not bmw original)...
 
What a waist of time, went to BMW specialist who after giving me quote wanted for me to accept that if he need more hours ...well i should just pay for it... i guess i will be taking the car to BMW but now i am busted as LPFP is not BMW original and i can only assume they will not want to touch the car if spare part if not BMW...
