Wanting to buy the bimmernav retrofit kit and need to know which one to buy.

Kind Regards

Thats a shame, I quite fancied fitting it if it was straightforward...

Nice try Sam,

Did you really expect BMW to make your life that easy..lol

I know we've pm exchanged on related matters, but for others reading they will need the Bimmernav kit, although you could source the harness yourself as part # 61 120 154 335. You'll also need a slew of bits inc. mike, bluetooth antenna, mike extension lead, bluetooth aerial and if you go for the built in then add to that the new flap and cradle, more harnesses and/or a pairing button assembly.

I went for the later column mounted mike and had to make my own adapter and Bimmernav forget to tell you about £50 of new carpets to cover the ULF and carrier!!

Big big big retrofit job, but oh so cool once done.

Did you buy it from Bimmernav? I am considering the project but Bimmernav price for the kit seems too high. Also, do you how true that the latest and greatest ULF that they're selling is much better than previous generations?

I went for the kit from Bimmernav as their prices ended up lower than the UK dealer prices (cheaper US anyway and 2:1 conversion) I opted out of their ULF and sourced my own. You also get the benefit of their expertise should you have problems or questions. I caution that although they are great at help they have been slow on delivery and of the 2 kits I have used both have had problems ( a non functioning pairing button, misslng aerail, wrong lead/mike combo) All resolved though.

ULF. I would source off ebay. I have used a Gen 3, 8 and 12 and all seem pretty much the same. Biggest issue is compatibility to different phones.

Hi

I wanted the bluetooth wiring when I purchased my pre-loved Z4. Unfortunately I couldn't find one that ticked all of the boxes and so something had to give.

My experience with hard wired OEM bluetooth kits has been mixed to say the least. I've even tried a few parrot systems in my time but have never been pleased with the final result.

I don't have the skills to do my own retrofit and I don't trust my dash to some of the cowboys out there who fit car kits so I thought I'd try this little product.

I've been really pleased with the neat combination of bluetooth and FM transmitter. The mic is really clear (so I've been told, I've never been on the receiving end, and the sound comes out of the car speakers. Even neater is that the name of the caller is displayed on the car stereo screen.

Costs £60 from amazon in the UK.

There is even a version that comes in a brushed aluminium case which would look great next to my interior. Unfortunately I didn't find out about it until after ordering mine :headbang:

Not a perfect solution for all phones, check the compatability screen, but I think it's excellent value for money.
