Thought I'd post this as a separate How-To, otherwise it'll get lost in the original post.
Kudos to Silverado for finding and posting it in the first place

Also added the BC button menu to reduce the auto headlight sensibility - works nice now.
For anyone interested - you have to change this variable to unlock the menu - you can also change the settings directly in the RLS module.

Code:
ECU KOMBI

MMI_ENA_PIA
aktiv
LICHT_AUT_WERT_1
aktiv
LICHT_AUT_WERT_2
aktiv
LICHT_AUT_WERT_3
aktiv

So I've found where this has come from, and I'll get around to doing this at some point in the future.
But in the meantime here's a few photos from the post I've come across (probably the same post Siverado found above).

EDIT** In the original post there was a coding line that read...
Code:
MMI_ENA_RPA_RDC
aktiv
This line has nothing to do with the light sensitivity, that's for coding of the Flat Tyre Monitoring, so ignore it.

How to access and adjust this new menu.

On the BC/Indicator stalk (left side of steering column) you have the button on the end of the stalk (2) and a little paddle (1), for the lack of a better term which flips up and down.
With the car running and in park, if you've coded correctly, flip the little paddle (1) up or down. You should see some different icons appear in the dash as you flip through it. You're looking for the symbol with the key and a check mark on top of it (photo 1 above).
When you find that, press the stalk button (2) to enter the sub menu. There you'll find a lot of things that are adjustable in your Idrive as well (triple blinker, welcome light time, etc.) Scroll through this with the paddle (1) until you find the symbol of the headlight with a "A" on it, should be a bar with three small rectangles under it (photo 2 above).
Highlight it with stalk button (2), use the paddle (1) to change the sensitivity, one bar the least sensitive (lights stay off longer) to three bars (lights come on quicker).
When you get it to the setting you want, press the stalk button (2) and you're done.
It should be saved and you should be back to original dash.
