How to access headlight washer?

My passenger side headlight washer has stopped working. I have checked that it isn't jammed and I'm able to pull it up. I am hoping that maybe the washer tubing is blocked or something. Please tell me it's not a bumper off job to get to it? Is there any guides out there or can someone point me in the right direction for getting to it. Car is a M if that makes any difference.
 
Used to be able to reach mine from the wheel arch access panel, but now I have an ///M bumper I'm sure it will be bumper off. Try to see if you can reach it around the headlight. Removal will be tricky with bumper on. First remove the hose C clip and then the hose. Depress the washer body and slide it down and out.

Frankly I'd remove the bumper for ease.

Before you take the bumper off check the washer motor is not covered in slime in its filter. That's a common cause of them failing as it reduces the flow.
 
Is the jet blocked or is it a washer pod issue.
I have just removed my front bumper and have been surprised how large the mechanism is for the headlamp washer is. If it is the washer pod unit you would definitely need bumper off.
It really isn't that hard if you follow the how too's :thumbsup:
 
I have no idea what the problem is really. It just won't pop up like the driver side one. I was hoping to get access to the hose and check for blockages.
 
You will need the bumper off then.
Sounds like the actuator mech has some thing wrong with it.
I can take a picture of my bumper off to show you what you are dealing with at the back side of the bumper. It is quite a bit of kit
 
I removed the bumper from mine, it makes the whole job so much easier.

Bumper removal takes 10 minutes and you'll then be able to have a look at the hoses and both pumps.

I had a problem with the motor in the washer bottle and a headlight washer jet. The washer jet was leaking near the bottom. The actual washers don't contain any motors, the flow of water forces them up iirc.

Whilst I had everything off, I ran water through the long hose to make sure it was clear.
 
There will be no block/kink in the pressure hose. It's carefully routed.
As per my first post start by taking the pump out the washer bottle to make sure it's not blocked. This is usually caused by washer solution turning to a gel.
 
Thanks for all the advice guys. Will maybe give it a bash today. How easy is realigning the bumper when putting it back on?

Is removing the pump from the washer bottle an easy enough job? I'm assuming it needs to be tackled from underneath the car?
 
Never done the washer bottle............ assuming the pump it at the base of the bottle in engine bay?
The bumper is self aligning (to a point) if it isnt fitting correctly you will not be able to re-attach the fixings. Probably easier with two and lay some carpet (or similar) down in front of car to reduce scratching bumper . :thumbsup: GL
 
The washer bottle pump takes 2 minutes to replace you can see it if you look at the front of the bottle. One bolt holds the washer bottle on iirc.
 
Must do this myself at some point. Drivers side still not working and despite best efforts, cannot pull up from outside with fingers - feels like I might break it. First stop for me will be to check the pump for gunk at the washer reservoir before committing to bumper off job.
