How soon do I need new brake pads?

How much do you guys think is left on these and how much do new front pads cost? Its for a 2.5i

i would guess that they are only half worn,loads of life left in them yet.
 
Understood normal practise on a Zed is to replace Pads with Discs which think on average last about 40k, though mine were very low when I bought it & changed everything at 47k.

Have a look at yr milage & try to gauge where in their life cycle you are, but as previous post says, looks about just over half worn

Minimum pad thickness should be 3mm, I recently priced and changed my 2.5 front pads and discs as discussed on this post, I don't know how prices will compare with yours in SA but the info on makes and the 'how to' might be useful,

Inside pad that u cannot see often wears quicker as does the side without the sensor - no logic other than to piss the driver/owner off!!

Yea I was surprised to find that, same with the disc.

So what are you saying? Not much left on these?
 
I would say it looks OK for now but you need to pop the wheel off and check properly to be sure. The wear sensor will light up the warning light before they get near metal to metal, the only downside to leaving until the sensor hits is that the sensor needs replacing once activated (about £10 GB, one required front, one rear)
 
I would guestimate that depending on how heavy footed you are that there are around 4000 miles left maximum. Keep an eye on em as its not worth ruining a set off discs for.
 
Thanks everyone. What about the discs? Do you guys reckon I can just replace the front pads and leave disks? Also rear brakes seem find but I'll post some more pics later.
 
Reading this thread makes me think it's time to do my brakes.

I have a 3.0. How much are pads? I think I can do a DIY for pads....
