Cheers for the comments guys.

I agree with the quad. I'm probably going to wait till the end of March and see what M Coupes are around (and what sort of trade I'd get for mine).

If nothing takes my fancy then I'll get the M rear and a nice aftermarket backbox.

I didn't like the full black kidneys so I split then and used the black grills with the silver surrounds.

I now have a custom set of kidneys in my garage. Black surrounds with grey grills.

I'm with you, I don't like all black kidneys either.

Ha, could you upload a pic of the custom kidneys? Sounds like an intriguing idea.

Yeah no problem. I'll get a pic uploaded tomorrow

Looks great, yours is sapphire black right?

I agree with you on the grills, black with silver surrounds are the best on a dark / black car.

Fantastic looking Coupe  , like the glossy black 224's a lot, I''ve been wondering if that's the way to go with mine.

Out of interest what size rear tyres are you running?

Dan,s 224,s are finished in a unique powdercoat sparkle metallic , not so easy to see from pics but up close in sunlight they do glitter

Cheers Mr Wilks, as usual the man in the know on these things! That's a great colour, do you think that would work on a silver grey car or would gloss black be a better contrast?

The appearance from any more than 10 feet away will just be black but close up the sparkle finish is much nicer than straight gloss black.
I ran the sparkle 224,s on my 330d before selling them to Dan

i have just recently refurbed my TT wheels with plain gloss black .

I much prefer the sparkle finish but it was 50% dearer for set of 18,s doing 8) in answer to your question though i think any finish black wheel would suit your silver grey car

I did mine like that when I bought the car, decided not long after to do the slats satin black with gloss surround
Black I think looks better on sterling grey, far more aggressive.

similar hi-fi set up to me....amazing what bargains you can get if you are patient on e bay.

re the 224s, are these spaced? I have a set for mine with winter tyres, but happen to think the fronts look a bit too 'inset' fitted without spacers. I have the spacers, but am too lazy to get longer bolts.

Also expected black on black to look crap and it certainly doesn't! Nice job. :)

I like the sparkle - similar to mine but in a darker shade.

I thought it might be a bit too "bling", but a light coating of brake dust soon sorts that out. :driving:

JaEdBa / never noticed a problem with the offset on 224,s front when fitted to non M Z,s ? Thought they looked perfect TBH whilst the rears are borderline too far out 8)

The Yamaha gear was bought new around 14/15 years ago for £750/£800 IIRC & as i can,t fault it i see no reason to change it .
Have bought some other bits along the way which i like such as a Roth Alfie  http://www.whathifi.com/Review/Roth-Alfie/

Thanks Mr W. I agree 224s on non M the rear offset is just a little wider than I'd like. When I first put them on and the shocks hadn't settled properly I though feck me Carlos Fandango :?

I have 255/40s on the rear and I'm wondering if 245s may be a better bet

I love the rear boot spoiler, where did you get that from?

Its a BMW part.

Cost around £250 but you can get cheaper ones on eBay for around £90 unpainted IIRC.
