How rare is your Z4M?

Please let me know what is not accurate so I can look into it. Please note I took my time looking into all the chassis numbers individually provided by BMW to compile the data and totals confirm with the BMW Registry.

I don't want to knock your hard work, its a great idea & well executed, but I think there is a gremlin in there somewhere. Apparently mine is 1/1 worldwide, I could be mistaken, but I'm fairly sure that Joneeboy has the twin of mine, (Sepang Bronze, Champagne interior, RHD).

I only have chassis number ending in ***42 with that combo. Interested to know the chassis numbers so I can cross check this glitch.

I will check my chassis number and let you know, I may be mistaken anyway, perhaps Joneboy's car is different, in fact I hope you are right, I would like to be 1/1 :D :D

Didn’t realise it was your database.

I’ll find you the link to the other one the. You can compare then.

PM me with the last 7 digits of your chassis number and I'll have a look for you.
The last 7 digits of the vin number (I assume this is the same as the chassis number) are LF78860

Usually, the Vin Decoders are correct with all the BMWs I have encountered, but for your instance it's showing that the interior should be black. To be exact - LEDERAUS. WALKNAPPA/SCHWARZ (LSSW). Are you the first owner of the car?

Well you learn something new every day!

I am the 4th owner of the car, the first being Synter, the first proper owner was a forum member, and so I have been looking back through his old posts and pictures to double check the interior colour. Here is his for sale post, and as you can see the interior is Champagne...

https://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=37551&p=516453#p516453

But, then I noticed a single line comment in an earlier from someone who had originally seen the car in the showroom and he mentioned that the dealer had swopped the black interior to Champagne. So it looks like your Vin checker is correct, the interior was originally black! I have to say, I am very glad they swopped it, the interior is lovely, my favourite colour (but I'm biased) but still a strange thing for a dealer to do. I guess it was either swopped to make the car more attractive to purchasers (Sepang Bronze may have been a harder sell than the other colours as it wouldn't come across well on a swatch) or perhaps they had another car where the buyer didn't want Champagne and so swopped it to sell that car.

Either way, its nice to find out a bit more history of the car, so thanks for putting in the leg work with your site :)

Anytime Shaun. I also would prefer the champagne interior with the Sepang Bronze the color just blends in more easily. But it's a known fact that not so many people purchase the lighter interior because its harder to keep clean.

Yes I suppose, I haven't had a problem keeping it clean, but then again I am super careful, I even contort myself into all kind of positions simply to protect my seat and ensure that it doesn't suffer from bolster wear when I get in and out, lol!
