How not to re-surface a road

Went down the town today slightly hungover after a bit of a sesh last night. Couldn't believe my eyes... This is the main road into the town centre that was "Re-surfaced" early this morning. Thought I was still drunk.

About 10 years ago they removed all the hard wearing granit curbs and replaced them with sandstone to fit with the area. Now they have half surfaced over them! WTF is wrong with this country! That is going to come up in no time if we have a crap winter again that road will be dangerous.

Awful for traders, embarrassing for people that live here and what are tourists going to think?

Plus they haven't tidied any of it up so you walk down and get pelted by tar and boiling stones. They put no cones out or anything so just tarmaced round obstacles! The drains are also about an inch into the road now so theres a potential spring breaker and its just been sorted. So angry.

Looks shoddy, but surely that isn't the finished article?

They are currently resurfacing some of the main roads in Sutton Coldfield, but doing each road over a period of stages
 
It would seem so! Just need to put the road markings on. Its like this all over town, they resurfaced a rural street and its like a patchwork around cars. There was no signs, no warning not even a public notice in the paper.

Eden District Council are a joke tho run by a load of clowns.

Nah - they're trained in London then distributed nationwide. Government scheme to share knowledge and experience :D

They are not responsible. It's the Highway Authority which is your County Council that deals with this work.
