How much will the M front bumper set me back?

I have been away and the person looking after my car took it through a car wash which put hundreds of little paint flakes on my front bumper which looks horrible, I feel like re spraying it would be pointless and to just go for the m bumper upgrade.
It looks like there are hundreds of small stone chips on the bumper now, ill add pics tomorrow. Its safe to say i'm not very happy.

If anyone has done this where did you get it from?? A BMW dealer? or online? My zed is monaco blue E86, and I would imagine that if I got it from a dealer they would have to spray it which would also set me back a bit.

Thanks guys and gals :)

Plenty have done it.

If you get lucky on eBay you might get one for £350 / £400 but then factor in paint.

From a dealer you are looking at probably £1200. supply, paint & fit

It’s about 4 years since I looked at having it on my E86 though so the prices might have changed.

I think it costs a fair few bob.

You have the front bumper to buy, aswell as all the extra bits that goes with it. These include, centre lower grille, 2 brake ducts and the brackets which hold the brake ducts in place. You also need to buy a plastic undertray, as the standard one doesn't fit the M front bumper underneath.

I looked at the price of the M bonnet and it costs 1200 so thought the bumper might have been less :( ill ring them tomorrow i guess just to make sure.

This thread gives a good indication of what is required.

I did this

Bumper (in imola red) plus the M Ducting, and the central undertray cost me ~£350 from memory 2nd hand in good condition. The bumper then had to be resprayed at a cost of £300 ish, followed by a cost of around £140 to be fitted. At which point I realised the Si corner undertray sections ( under the fogs or brake ducts) are different between the 3.0si and M, so had to purchase those to, at....wait for it...... £126 a side from bmw... The si ones do not fit at all as standard - however I guess you migh tbe able to mod them to fit - up to you really!

I've absolutely no doubt it can be done for a lot less, I'm posting this up in the hope people at least go in eyes open rather than making the mistakes I did because of my severe bout of ADOH (Attention Deficit OOOOOOH SHINY)!

I was thinking of doing this there is one on ebay for £450 but i dont really want to pay that for a refurbished bumper that is not the correct colour :/ Comes without all the air ducts etc

thanatu55 posted this link elsewhere - not sure if it's his or just a link he came across. It is the same colour as his I believe so it may well be his old one but don't hold me to that.

That, however, is not an M bumper :poke:

£140 to fit!!!??? Unless I’m missing something, isn’t it a ten minute job?

These 10 minute jobs are a figment of the imagination ,more like an hour to do the complete job ,unless you are only using a couple of screws.Once you have done it a couple of times the fitting time will drop.

The only reason I was happy to buy it was cause it was immaculate. If it had been damaged it would definitely not have been worth the hassle - particularly considering the battering the fangs seem to take on just about anything!
