How much to retrofit cruise?

Hi all,

I'd like to have cruise retrofitted to my 2.0.

I need a stalk and the cable as my Zed is reg '07.

I could do the stalk no problem but the cable looks tricky.

Any ideas on how much I should expect to pay an independent to do the job?

Hi, I think I've seen it on the forum for around £250-£300 from prestige near Newcastle, although that was for an ///M.
 
I got a quote from local stealers for £680 inc in May for my 07 2.5.

Decided not to... :lol:

There are some really useful DIY guides on the forum, and if you check on this thread we're trying to get discounts on the cruise control stalks and looms.... if you're interested :thumbsup:

Sounds very reasonable - parts probably £200 (Was circa £130 for the stalk and loom I think) and about 2 hours labour (as per BMW fitting guide if you exclude the unnecessary recoding)

Local stealer quoted £700 including recoding.

Took me about 5 times that long and had to pull in a favour from someone better skilled with an iron too!
 
Where do you live ?, I've just done mine.

It took me 3 hrs really taking my time including soldering the connections & cutting the existing cowl.

If you're near Manchester I could spare you a bit of time.
 
You can save yourself a few quid as you don't need the cowl, within the molding process BMW have kindly shown the outline of the bit that needs cutting out, go to your stealer armed with a Stanley Knife and whilst they are fitting the Stalk and cable kill 5 mins in the waiting area removing the unneecessary bit of plastic.

Thanks Richard. I've called A1BMW to see if they'll just fit the cable, then all I have to do is fit the stalk and cut the cowl.
Should save myself a few quid in the process.
 
Long story short, nobody could beat the quote from my local indy BMW specialist so I'm getting cruise supplied and installed for £299 on Monday. I used cruise a lot on my e46 330d so will be nice to have it back again!
