how much is this door trim part?

Hi all
Random part query....Does anyone know how much the silver coloured door handle trim on the drivers side interior should cost?

Hi Nick,

A realoem.com search returns this:
CLASP, INSIDE DOOR HANDLE, RIGHT | 51417042878 | $31.53

From this url:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BU52&mospid=49303&btnr=51_4912&hg=51&fg=50

Hope that's of some help.

So that's about £18 at current ex rates, plus taxes and the like, which means i'd expect your dealer to quote you somewhere in the region of £5-6k

My receipt is not to hand, but the figure is closer to £25 each from BMW UK

Be very careful how you fit them to avoid damaging the clips and lugs. It's a slide in not push fit.....

Which way do they slide to fit/remove? Just interests me in terms of the design... I'd guess that they slide upwards to remove as it's the least likely to occur accidentally by a passenger.

Difficult to describe. Try to slide it up a little, then unclip at the bottom then slide using a flat bladed tool, this undoes the main locking lug. Then slide back down and it will come out form all the remaining fixing points. Once you have one off you'll see the structure and appreciate the fitting.

IMHO the worst thing to do it to try refitting by pressing it on as the risk of breaking off some of the tabs is high and you'll not locate the bottom lug correctly so it will simply slide off when you next grip it.

managed to get one for £18 inclusive from a dealer and so I will give it a go when it arrives.

The one in my car was scratched and would you believe the main dealer SPRAYED it instead of replacing it??! Stupid when they only cost so little in the first place.

Hard to believe even main agent/dealers woud try such a trick. I guess it's to get the car out and avoid waiting for parts delivery, taking a chance you'll not notice

Is your car second hand? If the person before you wore their watch on their right hand you wouldn;t believe the amounth of chips and scratches that appear in a very short time.

I've got a spare for mine as it is ding to buggery!

J.

Glad it was of some help. It's so frustrating to get a new bit then damage it from the 'go'

I echo the comment re keeping in mint condition. Not show winning standard, but so it looks new.

Maybe to many years of working to a standard and pride that I only see faults on cars, not the rest that many others see. Scratches, number plates not fixed square, kerbed rims, poor panel fit, etc.
