To all you knowledgeable Z4 owners out there…

How much would you expect to pay for a hardtop (2003-2005 model) in Titanium Silver and in as new condition around the London area with fitting kit, bag and stand? I have created a poll on this post…

Also apart from the obvious benefits (more secure, protects soft top) is there anything else I am missing and would you say they are worth the investment? Do they provide much more sound insulation etc?

How heavy are they – for example could they be hung on a garage wall to save space?

Hope you can help!
Thanks

Yes worth the investment (i.m.o)
Creates a different look to the Zed (Coupes have it but of course they can't revert to a rag top)
Need 2 people to lift and put in place (5 min job)
Mine hangs on a secure hook on the garage wall - 4 years and no problems.
Yes - sound insulation is better, as you would expect.
As far as I am aware ALL UK Zeds had the fitting kit as standard

Yes they can hang up
They keep all the winter snow, slush, gritter stuff and rain off your precious soft top! :driving:
Make sure you also get the two little washers that fit on the boot hinge to prevent the boot openning and hitting the glass
I paid £1017 for mine in August 2009
Most ebay prices are between £900 and £1200
Cost neutral investment as you sell on when the car goes

Had a hard top for 4 years - and no little washers. What are they....?

I paid a little over £800 2 years ago and consider it a great accessory. For Winter warmer, quieter, secure and provides a 2 car experience.
Downside is storage and missing the odd sunny day if too lazy to remove in Spring/Autumn.
For wall hanging use the OEM bag and in my case I ran threaded bar right through the garage wall for weight.
Ceiling hoist is useful asnd made my own using an Aldi hoist for £40, but if you're strong it's light enough to do alone, so not really heavy.

Set up a search on ebay and wait a month until the warmer weather causes people to remove them and have no stroage. Always at a premium in Winter.

Also consider a respray at around £200 if oyu can get one at the right price.

£500-£800 seems to be the norm, anything more, you will find hard to sell tbh

I think you're predicting way below market value here. Find me a good one for £500 to £800 and I'll buy it immediately and make a £100 to £400 profit in a week on Ebay, selling at £900

+1

There was one being sold in Denbighshire about 2 weeks ago on ebay, that i nearly went for at about £550, really good condition.

I just didnt fancy the drive into wales.

What are they £1300 from a main dealer or so, so if you have one for a few years, with deprecitation, you cant expect to sell it for £1k surely?

Oh

I would have gone for this, but Northern Ireland is miles from me.

£725. So i expect you both to start bidding for that one :) It includes a stand and a cover too, go get it! Lots of Profit for you there :)

RRP is £1895, and a group on here managed to negotiate a bulk buy for around £1,430

Agree the NI one is cheap, but then again trnsport and market size to the seller.

They are about £1800 from a dealer, can't remember what the group buy got them for earlier in the year.(beaten to the real prices, thanks cj10)

I paid £700 for mine with storage bag and stand in April last year, then another £200ish getting sprayed, got lucky really the guy had it up on Ebay with a buy it now price so I ripped his arm off, I'd missed out on a few so drove from Scotland to Wolverhampton to pick it up, they were generally going for between £900 & £1100 at that time.

I guess, you have to scan every now and again, until one pops on ebay for the right price. Agree that a lot are around the 1k mark, but I guess, summer is coming and people are selling more actively now etc as its surplus to requirements. Maybe they didnt use it as much in winter, credit crunch etc.

Beginning to wish i got the one in Denbighshire now lol :)

Thanks for all your comments and info guys - all really helpful. I am convinced it is worth having now.

You're right about the one above on eBay. I was a bit disappointed to see it resting on bare tarmac. I assume that even if the paint isn't touching there must be delicate rubber seals on the edges?

+1 You cannot stand them down like that

I was tempted by the damaged one that went last night. Was told by my bodyshop guy it would be abit of a pain to repair though as you cant bake fibre glass. Also said you'd have to respray the whole thing as trying to hide a repair wouldnt look great.
