Selling my car in the next couple of months so I need to have all 4 wheels done, (although 3 arn't to bad just slightly marked) what did you pay ? or did you do the work your self?

Kryters

I got mine done for free through work here http://www.pristinealloywheels.co.uk/ :D but hear it would of cost around £700 if I'd had to pay for it.

'What do you call a bespoke wheel refurbishing service that is not that expensive? Pristine Wheels seems to be the answer.'

£700; WOW think I might be looking for alternatives... :o

you will be suprised at how much money stripping them down by yourself will save you. it would be worth asking some places

That did make me chuckle

Sorry did that say £700?!?!?!?!?!?!

Our local chap does a strip, sand blast, fill, paint and bake for £50 a corner on regular alloys. Obviously be a touch more for the 108's but not £500 more.......

Hell, if you sold the 108's you could damn near buy some aftermarket BBS ones at that price!

Where is the best (cheapest) place to buy the socket to undo the bolts?

I borrowed it off a mate that works in a body shop, you can get them for a couple of quid off ebay usually.

it is an 8mm 12 tooth spline you need

EDIT: http://www.toolmix.com a link from CJ's write up

The original DIY job :)
£140 for the full smoked chrome on the stars. Flat silver woudl have been half that. Did the rest myself for the cost of some paint, spline drive and a polishing kit.

Next time rims only in the late Spring will be £5 for a new can of silver

Tip - get a reasonable quality spline drive - the consequences of stripping one are a lot of drilling and search for a spare bolt (so I'm told :) )

IIRC there was a guy selling a wheels worth of them on here... forgotten the name, he bought a crash damaged car and was having it fixed??

I had mine all done for me by The Wheel Specalist.
It cost about £360 I think and they did the work within a working day - drop off at 9 and collect at 5.
Very good job, they are a bit like CJ's - Flash Chrome with the inside of the rims done black. They are powder-coated now (including the bolts that hold the two parts together), this should keep them all protected - I hope.

Yep £700, though I could be out by a hundred... The main thing is it didn't cost me a penny :D as my old MD paid for it as he's mates with the guy that owns Pristine

Full strip down and curb damage fixed. Diamond turned and lacquered lips. The inner of the rim was painted silver along with the inner star/spokes. The car was gone for a week while all that was done. Been about 10 months now since they were done and they still look new

Thought I saw this on here. Seems reasoable now http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3-series-18-BMW-Genuine-Split-Rim-alloy-wheels-MINT_W0QQitemZ190367454179QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item2c52c8d3e3
