How much are a pair of OEM Z4M seats worth?

So I have the pair of seats out of my Coupe, which have been sitting in my spare room since they were removed 18 months ago or so..

They're in black Nappa leather, heated, electric with memory etc... absolutely mint and unmarked - the car was about a year old when they were removed and had covered approximately 8,000 miles. How much would you reckon they'd go for on eBay and/or here?

I was going to keep them so I could always return the car to standard easily enough, but an opportunity has come up for something which I need to raise some cash for and would be worth losing the seats for....

I'm sure they'd be snapped up on here for a reasonable price. What that is though, I'd not like to say, depends how keen the buyer is

I rekon about £800 ish.

I'm starting to discover (I think) that facelift seats are only good for facelift cars, with respect to an updated occupancy sensor issue (the facelifts use a different one from what I can tell so far)

This means only facelift owners with non-sport seats would be buying them as a straight swap I think.

BUT, I could be wrong. Care to take some pictures of the underneath/back corner of your passenger seat!? :D

I can take pics of whatever parts are needed when they go up for sale, but at the moment I haven't decided on that. I guess I just wanted to know what would be a reasonable amount to expect for them. If I can't sell them for a figure I have in mind (or they're not worth that much), then it's not worth me parting with them, as ideally I'd rather have them available to return the car to standard form when I sell it.

The value depends on the retrofit ability I'd say.

If they can go across all Z4's, you'd get a great deal more demand than if they were only good for facelift models, which are almost all Si's (so have sports already), or M's (again, already have sports)

Maybe £1000 if they could go in any Z4 and are as new (which they sound like they are)

If you take a pic or five under the seat for me (passenger), and around up the back (where the seat base leather folds down the back and clips under the seat), then I can help you determine the refit ability on other early Z4's.

I got Si seats for my pre-facelift, and the drivers works all fine, it's just the passenger side occupancy sensor part that might be causing issues as this may have been facelifted with the cars! If I can either determine if there is an issue or not, or if your seats are different, or work out the solution, then it will give you a much wider market + price potential.

But ultimately, I'd probably keep them anyway, re-selling the car with buckets will be hard work, likely impacting it's value more than you will get for the seats!

But pics would still be nice of the underneath of them for me ;) :D (pretty please :) )

I would agree with Mr Whippy - yes they're worth a decent amount of money, but selling your car without them in however long will make it more difficult, and a dealer would probably not be able to seel it, therefore auction and therefore lower trade in.

However, they're very desirable - lots of people on here have been after them and it was a mandatory option for me when I got mine.

Hmmm,

From what I can tell now, the facelift Si/M sports seats should just drop straight into a pre-facelift car with non m-sport seats and work fine (the new occupancy sensor has integrated electronics, so it outputs straight to the loom main plug as 3 core, rather than 2 core as per the old ones to a small external electronics box which then went to 3 core to the main loom plug)

Everything should just work, but I'm still struggling with heating on the passenger side, but since drivers side works and loom plugs are the same pre/post facelift at passenger side, I think it is installer error :) (I've probably left a plug un-done ;) )

So, that opens up the pre-facelift Z4 market to sell to, if you wanted to, which should improve the demand and so price you might get :)

Cheers

I have a price in mind which I've decided is what they're worth to me, bearing in mind the potential to return the car to standard form come resale time... It's not far off the figures here, but is slightly higher, so might try them on eBay with a Buy It Now or Best Offer approach and see what response I get...

If anyone is interested before i put them up on there, get in touch ...

Here in the States, the M seats were a $500 option--add another $500 if they were heated. That is, of course, new.

Is your price £1000 Sixspeed? :P

I rekon if they are as new and fully specced, and the rare M only spec single panel base side bolster versions, then £1000 would be worth it... if you are selling old seats for say £300, then it's a £700 upgrade, not THAT bad considering :)

Dave

Slightly over.. but not by much. Interestingly I rang BMW and asked how much the seats would be to buy (from Parts Dept) and the figure is £2200 per seat!

So the price I'm selling for is a steal ;)

I don't think you'll have a problemselling if you take some good pics, advertise them well on eBay, and aim for £900 give or take.
