How much am i looking to pay....

For an M coupe with the same if not better spec then my 3l coupe?
Of the top of my head i have:
Sat nav, lots of speakers as well
Xenons
Folding side mirrors, dimming rear view mirror
Storage nets
Cigarette stuffs, sunglasses holder
Heated memory seats
Parking and rain sensor

Thats all i can think of while I'm at work, i do not know what is standard on the M, i have been thinking about buying an M with less then 60k miles too
 
Possibly even as low as £14k around the 60k mark :wink: it,s more about how far you are prepared to travel & how fussed you are with paint & trim colour ?
More than likely to find one car will have something more than your,s whilst likely missing something else ?
I,d be more concerned on history & condition & whatever "extra,s are in then good bonus :thumbsup:

Agreed, if you want electric folding mirrors it will limit the market some what.

Well my limit would have to be around 15k so i think i should be less expectant on what i can have , travel isn't really an issue but if rather not go Scotland as I'm all the way down south, id have any colour other then black as my last car was black before my coupe and i hated washing it! CSL's would be the icing on the cake if i see a car i think, i don't really use the mirrors to be honest so i can live without them and service history would be a must so i guess after what you have told me i would have to look for this:
Red coupe would be my preference but any colour would do just not black
Trim i would like anything other then what i currently have- aluminium dash but i would have black seats
Heated seats
Sat nav and speakers
Xenons - standard on all M's i believe?
Storage nets would be nice as i use them
Cigarette lighter - is this actually an option or is it standard?
 
Xenons, auto dimming rear mirror, sunglass holder, the seat memory and the lighter are standard I believe and It's rare to find an M with an aluminium dash so that's a good start!
Storage nets can be retrofitted so I wouldn't place too much emphasis on them.
I'd also say that whilst its not a given, more often than not you'll find they have nav and heated seats but the fancy stereo is harder to find IMO.

For what it's worth, I found the heated seats were lovely for the first few months when I kept the car outside but as its now in a garage I never use them, not even when it's been used on the coldest days. On a roadster it would be more of a 'must' for me.

Pretty much the same goes for the mirrors-they're a real nice touch when it's parked on a street but if you never do that then they're pretty much obsolete. Worst case you can always do it manually.

15k should get you a decent, mid-mileage example but you may have to wait a while for the right one to turn up. Actually I'd say that is true regardless of budget.

When I was looking for mine I set 2-3 things that were must haves and was flexible on the rest. Buy on condition and history and try not to let a sexy colour combo and fancy wheels get in the way of common sense.

Nice to hear your considering an M! Its a tricky one as you have already experienced a similar car. So not having some of the options may or may not disappoint you. For me the cars overall condition and service history were more important then spec. I would go and see a few. drive one, see how you feel about making the change. just my 2p worth! :thumbsup:
 
Well thats good about the aluminium trim then! And when they don't come with the fancy stereo do they have the storage holes behind the seat? And the heated seats are nice when i have to go work 5 in the morning and when i finish a night shift and plus the other half loves them haha and well i know what you mean but i just love the look of the car that i though why not get an M now the motorbike is going. I can see why you want CSL's but I would concentrate on finding the right car. CSL's are easy to sort afterwards. Concentrate on your must have options and can they be retrofitted.

Cruise can be retrofitted but not as easily as on non ///M's. Upgrading the hifi is also a PITA and I don't believe it has been done with OEM parts.

With these cars you eithe find they are box standard or have had a good number of options thrown at them.

It's also worth noting that the mirrors don't really protrude any further out from the car than the rear arches, so auto folding doesn't add too many benefits......

it's one of the best things about the car....baby got back :wink:

Typically for £15k you'll be looking at cars with >50k mileage. Prices seem to drop off after they hit 50k....which doesn't make sense as these cars could easily do 150k+ (as evidenced by the E46 M3s). Regardless, a 60k car will probably be £14k.

Oh sorry i wouldn't mind what wheels it came with really if it did have them it would be a bonus and I'm not to bothered about cruise really as my journey to work is only 20 miles there and back 3 days a week. I would want CSL's on it eventually though

I agree and on the zed they fold upwards and look silly to me but on my 330i the fold flush with the car so it just looks more effective I think, I find folding mirrors can come in handy when putting it in a garage if its tight.

You saying this when i did actually use them they didn't really seem to tuck in that much? I keep my car on a driveway and i park away from people at all oppunities
