How many times you had roof down this year?

Yesterday I went to visit friends in Ballater. The forecast was for mild weather, so off I went, roof down in the sunshine, to Grantown, Bridge of Brown and over the Lecht. These roads were made for Mr Z. Today I came back, again in sunshine with the roof down.

The skiing at the Lecht looked to be quite good, well pisted spring snow and all the uplift running, except perhaps the chairlift after its mishap last week.

I made a discovery, that you can use the windscreen washers and wipers with the roof down. The road was quite wet in places with melt running off the snow banks at the side of the road.

If its not raining / snowing the roofs down ,for me that's what a convertible sports cars are all about ,if a waited for a sunny day in this country well say no more
So any opportunity it's down heater / heated seats all full on bobby hat and I away we go .
 
Seen so many convertibles with the hood down today, half a dozen must of waved or nodded at me even though they were in different cars, not quite sure whether I should wave back so I just grinned at them :-)
 
I saw quite a few z4 with the roof down over the weekend, including a spot of 'nightyard' as he drove past me on the M6 yesterday
 
Almost every time I've been out weather permitting, but I have the novelty factor of a new car.

I've only had her for a week and a bit and I've already had the roof down on all 5 days I took her out :D

I really don't do 'roof up' tbh... If I'm in the zed... The roof is down... That's it... Unless the weather catches me unawares... And even then if I'm over 60 and it rains I'll just keep going.
 
Drove into work this morning with it down. Its only 2 miles, but I'm thinking lately (well, since yesterdays hoon) that I need to maximise the fun out of the things I have...considering I'm spent up now.

So roof down whenever possible, just cos its a different experience and its obviously what the car is designed for!
 
had the roof down on sunday for first time :driving: :thumbsup: forgot how much i missed it, and how much people stare

house > sauna > asda > scenic route home

girlfriend wondered where i got too :driving: :evil:
 
Once, last friday afternoon.

Felt soooo good after last summer's crap weather and a pretty harsh winter.
 
Couple of times in Jan and yesterday..

When the weather is nice and I am driving by myself then its definatly down, if the missus is in the car, check her hair isnt down or freshly straightened :roll: if not then drop the hood..
 
Lost count, rules for me are "if it aint raining the top is down" during the cold snap i had it down in -6C it was great! :)

purhaps i am also a little nuts!
 
Its never been out of the garage yet never mind taking the lid off!

Planning on the middle of March to open my garage doors when most of the salt has washed away :D
 
Who had it down in -6? Thats nuts :-) dont blame you though! I spotted a few Z4's around my area lately Cannock. Anyone on the forum from near me?
 
First decent roof down run in IMmie tonight from Bristol Airport home. Loving the snarly exhaust note and people wondering why I'm roof down in 4 deg weather :D
 
What's the best climate control setting for roof down action in the cold weather? Do you leave the thing on auto or as I found this weekend better to manually switch it to only the low fans so your legs get toasty and then rely on the seat heaters for upper body warmth (rather than having hot air blasting you in the face). Also do you just whack both temp controls onto the hottest setting?

Do you turn the AC button off to save power?

I read somewhere in the manual that when you put the roof down a special heat programme kicks in but have not noticed that happening.
 
I leave it on auto and change the heat setting to suit.... Though on Saturday morning I nearly roasted my foot. Not sure about a special heat programme - certainly not in my e85. Unless putting a hat and gloves on counts as a Heating Programme ? :D
