How many speakers are standard

Hello folks...I've got the standard professional radio in my 2013 z4. I've got 6 speaker 'covers'.
2 in the door cards, which work, 2 little things above the door handles ( no sound )
2 behind the seats (no sound)
On my settings menu, I can adjust the balance, but nothing happens on 'fade'
Is this normal ?

Hi I have a 2004 with a professional radio I know it's a very different model but mine has two speakers behind the seats two tiny tweeters (for top end ) top of the door by the mirror housing, two speaker in the lower door cards and two speakers in the foot wells 8 in total - balance and fade work fine fade moves the sound from front to back, sounds like you have some issues with the speakers ? All mine are active and produce sound. Hope you get it sorted - :|

The basic system has bass in the footwells, mid drivers in the doors, and surround drivers in the rear shoulder area. Fade should work but the speakers behind your shoulders are very weak as they are intended to round out the sound in the cabin. The panels you have in the top of the door/quarterpanel are empty unless you opted for a higher spec audio system.

Ah ha... I should have read the user manual..actually, it complicated matters more, but I've resolved the 'problem'.
In the user manual, it says if you press the '♪' button, it will give you sound settings for bass/treble/fader/dolby and eqset.
Well, I can't find dolby or eqset on mine....so, I pressed the reset button...and hey ho, the little quarter panel speakers burst into life (basic spec Maniac)
So, on a roll, i went back to the fader, and hey ho once again, rear speakers working
All I've got to do now, is find the dolby and eqset :?

I am guessing proffesional is the basic set up? thats what I have

I assumed wrongly then also that it is not a sub on the dashboard behind the middle box (where the sat nav would be if I had it)

Looking on the configurator - the professional is the name of the head unit without sat nav - then there is a professional and business speaker option

Mine is just the 'normal' professional, and according to the user manual, it has dolby and eqset..thereagain, I didn't know I had speakers in my quarters until earlier on, but I don't have any bass in the footwells...the car is only 2 months old, so maybe things have changed ??

You definitely do have speakers in the footwells, this is included on all speaker option levels. The 'professional stereo' and 'professional speaker package' are completely separate options, having the professional stereo does not mean you have the upgraded speaker package.

Mine has the second option but I also have a speaker grille at position 12 & 14 so will have to have a listen see if there are speakers behind it, I know it's bloody loud!

9 10 12 and 14 are an easy retrofit. I did this a few day after buying my car, three of the speakers can be bought durect from bmw for about £50. The rear bulkhead mesh panel includes the tweeter. I then just bought a further speaker for the bulkhead from ebay for a fiver.

Very interesting..However, my woofers ( As I now know what they're called ), aren't in the footwell, they are beside the mirror, as seen in this pic (not my car, too wet to go outside lol)
