How many owners have a Private Plate on their Z4?

Something for you guys to note when buying a plate...

I have one on my car which I have had for years now. I recently got one for my girlfriend from NewReg. This is the same company as my previous one.
As I have not given her the plate yet (waiting for birthday) it needed it's retention certificate renewing (only lasts 12 months).
I sent the £25 to the DVLA and then got a letter saying I have lost the plate :(
Basically because I got it from New Reg and not the DVLA, until I put it on a car I have to pay NewReg £80 per year to renew the retention certificate. £55 admin charge!!!
I did call them and ask for them to give me my plate back (which they did as long as I payed the £80).
Note - use the DVLA, not another company.

Agreed use the DVLA if you can as i have dealt with these plate companys and they make the Stealers look like angels when i sold one of my late fathers plates they forgot to tell me the charges i would have when agreeing a price had a few rows on the phone and got some of the costs dropped :x

An another reason to use the DVLA is the price is all inclusive. You have to add VAT onto the price via New Reg and others and IIRC also the DVLA fee to put in on the car.
