How many of you roadster owners wish you had got the coupe?

I would buy a coupe only if I could get it in a convertible!
Post of the month award... :winner:

Thanks for the award, send cash!!

It's true the only reason to buy a sports car in a coupe is to take it to the track.

The weather isn't a good excuse because most sports car owners wouldn't drive either in the bad weather (rain or snow).

I have always loved and wanted the coupe since the first one. When I was searching the lease sites I found a white with carbon leather M coupe that was 617/mo and I hesitated (because of my husband) and I missed it. The next week I found the roadster for 437/mo and jumped on it, but I still favor the looks of the coupe. I had a convertible before the roadster so it's not as exciting (to me anyway) to drive around with the top down anymore. Granted, it is nice to put the top down on days like today but it seems like I always have a hair in my eye or some dude is trying to talk me at a stop light. I would much rather have the coupe, not only because it handles better, is more quiet, and better for track days, it is just so beautiful!

I had a Roaster and loved it. Changed it because the roof did not work (no - I will not repeat the story). I miss the Roaster but also love the Coupe.

I am going Porsche 911 (hard-top) when my lease is up.

Definitely would not change. My Roadster only comes out of the garage on warm sunny days. Don't even like the way it looks with the top up. Bought it for top down fun only.

I guess what it comes down to is how often you drive your z4. For a person like myself who drives it almost every day, the top is usually up. It's up in the morning on the way to work because it's too chilly, it's up at work, and on the way home I occasionally put the top down. The only time I consistently have it down is during the weekend...so I've thought about going for the coupe simply because of the convenience factor.

Now if I had enough money I'd get both the coupe and the roadster. The coupe for mon-fri, and the roadster for sat-sun. Both are equally attractive cars in my opinion.

I have to disagree....I really do not like verts. I like the feel of driving one, but around town I feel very exposed?

I wanted to replace my M3. I liked the Cayman but in the real marketplace its considerably more than a Z4MC - like £12k-£15k more. I never considered the Z4 Roadster...if I was going to buy a roadster it would be the Boxster, which I tried and did not like. I think the styling and proportions of the Z4 Coupe are better, it looks better balanced - a bit like a modern Triumph GT6. I was given a 3.0 Roadster loaner and found it highly claustrophobic with the roof up, and though very similar to the Coupe to drive it definitely did not feel as good to me as my Z4MC IMO.

Different strokes for different folks and all that, as said by another poster I am not sure anyone cross shops the convertible and coupe?

I never drive with top up. I don't really like the looks with the top up either. Cold or heat the top is down. If it's too hot I turn on the AC full blast, if it's too cold I turn up the heater full blast. Don't really like the looks of the hard top at all. Of course it helps I live here :tumbleweed:
Having said that, my wife LOVES the coupe. And I do think it is absolutely gorgeous too...but I'll stick with my convertible! After all, I bought mine to replace my motorcycles so I need the air in my face!

I never considered a Roadster. Truth be known, I bought the Coupe for the way it looks (far better than a Cayman, IMHO). I don't need 4 seats and we already have a 3-series, so an M3 was never a consideration.

I think that the coupe looks better than the rag top. However, I did get the roadster partly for the open-air experience. Since I won't buy two cars, I'll stick with only having the roadster. 8)
