160k miles on my Z4MC, and it doesn't use a drop of engine oil between services.

Admittedly, services are every 6,000 miles, but my e34 M5 was 1L per 2,000 miles (until the timing chain tensioner diaphragm failed, then it was 1L per 1 mile).

I daily drive mine hitting 220 miles a week. Depending on how I drive determines the amount of times I need to add a litre. Drive hard and fast on A and B roads for a couple of weeks and I notice the oil gauge starts to drop. When I did my 850 mile trip to Wales I used half a litre. Not helped that I have a slight leek from the sump.
Cruising the motorway for a couple of weeks it doesn't really make a difference.

Very interesting, what are your mileages? I'm on 106k. When you consider BMW says you can expect as little as 1,000 miles per litre of oil burned, you're doing extraordinarily well if you've not needed a single top up between changes. Do your bars drop at all in that time?

Mine has 96K (M54 engine). It's a 2003 so I use a dipstick!
