I just read this. https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-germancars/bmw-z4-handschalter-gets-new-colour-options/49489

BMW are to offer other colour combinations on the manual ones, so maybe a few more will find homes now!

March 2026 is when production ends…want to predict how manual G29 manuals will have been sold in the UK by then? :tumbleweed:

I wasn't aware of that deadline, but with that in mind I suspect it will be low hundreds rather than thousands. :(

But then I'd rather have a manual Supra.

I have a 5 series Touring with the 8 speed auto (with flappy paddles) and a Z4 manwell, and to be honest the Auto is ok for every day driving with a bit of fun thrown in but for a proper 'Driving' experience the manual is better.

But I also like the fact the my Z has no buttons on the steering wheel and I tend not to listen to the radio in the Z too, but the 5 Series has CarPlay and all the gadget and controls. As one is a 'driving car' and the other is means to get from A to B and with a shitload of stuff.

But each to their own.

Just gone on to the configurator, any colour can be specified

The one green colour never did it for me, maybe they were just testing the waters, I’m happy with my auto but probably glad I didn’t have to choose between the two.

I sent an enquiry to the BMW dealer where I ordered the current one, sapphire with cognac. There are some good discounts on Z4's presently, so if the monthly payments are acceptable, I'll have a big decision to make, I love my car, but a manual version would be epic. :driving:

That's the only downside with a choice - you have to make decisions!

Still it will be interesting to see what you decide. You might be the first person on here to have a manual G29.

Figures came through this morning, very happy with the numbers, now the decision.......

Maybe the only one? :tumbleweed:  :driving:

It will be like the E46 M3 where people bought the "cheap" SMG versions and replaced the gearbox with a manual as that would be the "true" drivers car.

Maybe it's me, why wouldn't you buy a manual sports car over an automatic one. Since the e89, I've had to have an automatic because there was no option of a manual. It's a bit like launch control, you can let the computer to do it, but the only enjoyment is the acceleration and holding on, with the manual, the traffic light race becomes so much more enjoyable if you can get the revs and clutch control just right to get best traction and then that first change up from 1st that's so rewarding.

It is a brain thing - Technical / Engineer brained people like you and me who enjoy the technique of getting it right and perfect the mechanical motion of shifting.

A good point, excellently made

Yay! Another Handschalter on the way!

Would have been ordered last year if it wasn't for the imo unpleasant colour combination....Still on the upside there wouldn't be a fire orange A110 tucked up in the garage if the additional colours had been available then. San Remo Green with Ivory for me 🙂

Congratulations [ref]GrinnyGrl[/ref], But wait, so two manuals have been ordered by two women (I'm presuming with that name and avatar that you are) yet no boys have, clearly it's true most modern men are just to lazy to use a clutch and change gear manually :P

I agree sars, this is disgraceful. Even on the Porsche 991 facebook group, the only other manual driver I know of is also a woman
