How low is your Zed?

Anyways: It all depends on what wheels you have. I have 9,5 at the rear with ET27, 8,5 in front (not sure on ET value) with 15mm spacers in the front (non in the back, wide enough already). With my 108's I had 15mm in front and 20 in the back, OEM suspension. Surely with a 20 mm drop you should not expect any rubbing issues. I have quite some rubbing due to 40mm lowering, but mostly because I chose bad springs (FK's). 20mm is not an issue, but if you want to go lower, you'll need to change the shocks too, for sure.
 
The matte black car has (if I'm not mistaking) a 30mm drop. Mine, the black one in the front, has a 40mm drop. You can see mine is lower and more flush, but I would not recommend it unless you change the full suspension. Eibach is usually 30 mm and a really nice fit. If you only want to drop 15mm to 20 mm, than it will look like the grey Zed, whic in my opinion is still a little too high. But probably more comfortable.

That's what confuses me Jonny, so many mixed reports. I am running 108s and like I said, have 15mm spacers to fit on the front and 20mm on the rear.

I am looking for the car to look that bit more flush, not keen on squeaking and rattling that people talk about. Seems odd to put up with that just to look lower, that would do my head in!

I had 108's with those spacers and had no issues at all. If not, you can put the 15mm spacers in the back and put 12mm spacers in front. But I wouldn't worry on the wideness, that is easily sorted. It's more important to lower the car the right way. Shorter springs is OK if you don't go too low (would not go lower than 20mm on OEM shocks).
 
I don't get any squeaking and rattling, and I am sure if I just drove my car like a DD on motorways and trips to town then I would get hardly any rubbing, if at all. I take speed bumps very slowly anyway because it is so low, so no rubbing from that. I get the rubbing mostly on hoons - cornering and undulating and/or bumpy roads, at speed, that are working the suspension hard. I reckon I have done 700-900 miles of that kind of driving this year, which is quite a lot. Beginning to think that I could do with new shocks, possibly even replacement springs, but at this point thats an expensive option and I am not too bothered.

I'll just put the spacers and new springs in and then deal with any issues after. :D

Get decent springs: Eibach or H&R, don't go cheap.

Me and richardg have the same wheels (although slightly different offset) and both on eibachs but he says his gets minor rubbing while mine doesnt.

Even factors like tyres(shape and amount of tread and rim protection) make a difference!

Sounds like I just have to make the change and deal with any possible rubbing issues afterwards. I will go for Eibach or H&R springs then, no point in buying cheap.
 
You shouldnt get any rubbing issues with that kind of drop :thumbsup:

If you do you can modify the liners a little but I doubt it will be needed.

I would go with Eibach they are best of both worlds. H&Rs are lower and harder, depends what you want. Mine were on when I bought the car. Been tempted to swap to Eibachs because I have a squeak when going over very harsh bumps with the spring compressing. but you cant hear it in the cabin you have to wind the windows down and listen out for it. You also have to change your driving style Very slow over speed bumps etc.

Ive had no problems at all in the 2 years ive owned it.
 
Think Eibachs look to be the option I will go for. I was told by someone on here that Eibachs are rubbish quality and will break, but the majority of others seem to say this isn't the case.
 
Thread resurrection but wondered if the guys with eibach springs have any issues in multi storey car parks or steep entrances?
 
Thread resurrection II ... I am planning to low my Zed too, pre-facelift standard height (I dont have the 704 M suspension)
and also planning to add spacers (15 mm front, 20 mm rear from what I have read)

But I am a little scared to go for a Eibach B12 kit (30 mms front and rear) .. I have been adviced to buy a full kit (springs+shock absorbers instead of only springs cause the new springs would kill my shock absorbers) Agree?

Do you know if it is possible to find kits (Eibach or others) I could adjust how low I want , for example from 10 mm to 40 mm ?
PS : I realize my poor english, sorry

Mine was on FK. I honestly don't understand the crashy ride fears. My zed was a little stiff on FKs, but otherwise fine.

I've lowered previous cars to extremes, and they were crashy and regularly burst shocks. A sports car lowered will never be a luxury ride.
