How low is your Zed?

With spacers bought, the next step is to drop the car a bit. It is pre-facelift and I was wondering what I should go for. So I was wondering if you could post pictures of your cars and say how low they are and what springs or coilovers you have fitted. I think seeing them on other members cars lets me get the best idea of how it will look and what I want to do.

Look forward to seeing them! Feel free to point out which spacers you have too.

Cheers!

Thanks Carol, it's a great thread, but not a lot of mentions of lowering height and springs/coilovers. Was hoping this thread would present me with pics of various cars stating what they used to lower their car and the resultant height difference.

Have a look at my thread in the link in my sig: lowered mine 4cm
Would not recommend just swapping the springs though, the ride is really poo at higher peeds: get coilovers and decide for yourself how low you want to go, but at least your ride will be stiffer and not bouncy.

I was honestly expecting more replies on this one guys, we are all on the forum to help each other out huh :D :poke:

I wouldn't lower z4 at all, because it would look stupid and undriveable, not to mention all rubbing issues and arch rolling

Not too mention all the road rash you must get on your arse

Down 25mm vs standard. Mine had sport suspension. If you have SE, this is 40mm lower

Depends which ones you get think they do 3 spring types but dont quote me on that

Its maybe 30mm all round but the rear is def lower than the front. Sure its 35mm and 30mm

It looks like those one were designed for the Z3M, as they are suitable for years 97<. So potentially lowers slightly more than the Z4M springs??

Either way, I like the look of them.

Tom, Adamski and Bad all of yours look great. I reckon coilovers might be less likely than new springs, simply because I wouldn't want to get cheaper ones and regret it due to quality and my budget at the minute isn't up to buying a set of good coilovers I don't think.

If I have a 3.0i on standard springs, what difference is there in SI and SE springs? I am a bit confused on all of that.

Where is the best place to get H&R or Eibach springs? Is one make better than the other?

Cheers!

OK here's mine - an '04 SE but on Eibach Pro springs so lowers front by 20mm and rear by 10mm I seem to recall:

I do have to crawl over speed bumps - particularly those in our Virgin Active Tennis Club's car park - and still get some minor metallic grating (sump / exhaust - not sure) on the largest bumps. Like others inadvertently "caught some air" on the recent Borders run - with no consequences mind. I've no idea how the like's of Marius copes - looks great though !

Whilst I don't think mine looks at all "slammed" I really wouldn't want to go lower - for me it wouldn't be practical on some of our more remote (read: fun) roads.

Im not sure then Steve, put it this way the car is low! In comparison to standard cars and cars with eibachs. Looks much more aggressive

The ride is very hard but its a sports car so I dont mind :)

That looks great Jax, I'd say that's the sort of height I would be after, I don't want it to be so low it starts making life difficult, some of the speed bumps and roads over here are serious!

So what is the difference in standard ride height between a 3.0SE and a 3.0i?

The FK's give a nice drop, but also a bouncy ride. So would not recommend those. No idea though whether H&R or Eibach would be less bouncy? Does anyone have any idea on this? Anyone ever made the swap?

My Eibach Pros could never be described as bouncy in any way, though they are less crashy than the OEM springs as they are progressive, i.e. the harder they are worked the more they resist.
