Oh sh1t, armed police at my door fighting free speech online. 😬

Not laughing long were we , , , Shabana Mahmood in as Home secretary & lame duck Lammy ( managed 2 from 13 general knowledge questions on Mastermind) gets Deputy PM role .
I do wonder if those who actually voted these educated idiots into power are starting to worry . . . . .

What I don't understand is how on earth she managed to become deputy Prime Minister, left school at 16, pregnant with no qualifications, I just don't get it.

The basic annual salary for an MP is £93,904. According to an official UK Government report, Rayner received an annual salary of £67,505 as Housing Secretary. This meant that, before her resignation, her total salary from both roles would have been £161,409. A salary most people can only dream of.

And yet despite earning a decent salary she chose to ignore tax advice.

This whole country is twisted. We pay for all these undesirables pouring into the country (700 today, Sat), free hotel accomodation, free meals, free NHS, free phones and connection, pocket money and in the case of one Local Authority taking the local illegal immigrants and asylum seekers for days out to the zoo and a theme park at the local tax payers expense.

Top it off we have our own Government trying to fiddle the system in roundabout ways whilst pleading innocence.

Tim.

How could anyone with even half an ounce upstairs not be worried…has there ever been a more disastrous start to office than this shower of lying brainless British haters.

And a potential return from her if Andy Burnham takes over from Starmer ...
It could only be worse if Corbyn is welcomed back into the fold. Which I wouldn't rule out.

Imagine.....Andy Burnham as PM, Diane Abbott as deputy and Corbyn as Home Secretary? It makes me shudder just at the thought.

Still, hopefully, so would it make enough shudder that Farage's lot may be given a credible chance to have a go. It couldn't do any more harm.

Oh yeah great, let's follow the American example of Russia funded far right clown... does so well for them

I don't know what you guys are on about Labour, I am not in love with them but if you were removing your "been told I am better than anyone and won;t make efforts despite a world wide crisis after crisis situation" glasses you would admit it is good to not have a scandal every week in the news like when we had BoJo and lettuce.

Don't agree with the decision taken on everything but at least there is a clear statement of: we got to balance a budget, here is what we plan to do. Is it the right way to do? Certainly not perfect but much better than the previous posh twats that were privatising and defunding public services left and right!

Rant finished, did refrain from participating into politics chats here so far but felt like I deserve to throw a rock in the lake like everyone else or act as sound dampening in the echo chamber :driving:

To be fair, we have had quite a few scandels in the last year as well with a number of people being requested to leave their posts.

Balancing the books is indeed a good thing, however there are two opposing methods to that with Labour still chosing to employ hundreds of thousands more civil servants, and ignoring the gold plated pension issue of these servants. And to fund those, hammer the sector that is actually paying for all of that.

The housing market is paralysed now as labour won't confirm if they are going to tax this somehow and (private) pensions are being raided by their owners because again, they are not confirming or denying that they are going to make life changing changes to those. I have no idea about Farage's team economic skills, but for sure it has to be better than labour's staff members who seem to have been selected on a number of tick boxes.

It may be very amusing to laugh at the Labour party, but if the alternative is the Fagash Fuhrer, I suggest you look at:
  • All of the councillors who have already had to stand down because they couldn’t be bothered to attend any meetings.
  • Alleged tax irregularities.
  • Questionable overseas financial dealings.
  • The house in Frinton.
I also strongly advise you never to become ill, unemployed or old. Do you really want the NHS sold to American interests?

And now we are paying millions in taxi fares to get the 'asylum seekers' to their NHS appointments. No wonder I can't get a doctor's appointment or a taxi when I need one. But hey, I am just a tax 'payer' not a tax 'receiver'.

I love my Country!

Yep. It will a damned site cheaper for us taxpayers than the billions poured into a chasm of waste that is anything public sector, especially the NHS.
Why do we British always defend the NHS no matter how bad it gets? It is crap and must be the biggest waste of money on the planet.

I know of several people (and I don't know many people) who have become very rich from being suppliers to the NHS and ripping it (us) off as a matter of course. No one ever complains in the NHS 'procurement' dept cos they couldn't care less (pun intended) as it ain;t their money and know the money will keep rolling in from any Government (except maybe Reform).

The NHS is unsustainable in its current form but the population at large regard “healthcare that is free at the point of delivery” to be a fundamental right and a point of national pride. The consequence is that any political party that attempts to change that model or even question its sustainability is met with criticism.
A series of governments have allowed the NHS to fall into its current shambolic state rather than address the problem head on. The reason is obvious - eventually the population will become so disillusioned by the poor quality service they receive that they will welcome any change as better that the status quo.

They have made quite a few stupid mistakes in their first year, winter fuel benefit is a prime example. The mistake here was not the idea it was the implementation. Why should we give the cash to a wealthy pensioner, yes they do exist, but the current means testing approach is appalling and difficult to complete especially by someone in there 80's However, their biggest crime was the promise to not raise taxes, so they've screwed business and we are now seeing a stagnating jobs market and little or no growth.

My biggest frustration is their inability to get a coherent message across, though that's a fault with most politicians, take immigration, Pondrew's comment on paying millions in taxi fares for asylum seekers, that's just from the mouth of the right wing haters. Less than 9% of immigrants are asylum seekers of which 5% do it illegally, The other 90% have visas to work (25%), study (50%) or spouses/family (10%), of these visa only those working in healthcare have access to free NHS treatment, everyone else has to pay through the immigration health charge. The vast majority of immigrants with visas add to our economy, they are not a burden to it, that's just a lie from people who want to con you into believing that they want to make your life better, by enriching themselves.
