How long do original RF tyres last?

Ballpark figure anyone - how long should I expect my original Runflats to last. Car has done 12,000 miles - combination of spirited and "not hanging around" driving (maybe they're the same thing??). No trackdays.

I would like to change to non-runflats, and would do immediately if I could store the originals and put them back on the car when I come to sell it. However, I understand that tyre people are reluctant to put used RFs on a car and I don't want to simply throw away the originals until they're worn (I am a Yorkshire man after all!).

You can usually find used on ebay. The dealers take $700 off your trade without them but if you're not selling until they wear out they probably discount the RFTs anyway.

25K on my 07 coupe and the fronts still have a lot of tread. Haven't checked the rears.... :?

How long is a piece of string?

anyway I got 20k out of my rears, changed all 4 to Falken 452's and stored the fronts that still have 6mm on them.

I must drive hard - car had new rears on when I bought, 15k later they were down to 3mm...

like everything else depend on the roads you use as well, I know if I used my old route to work all four would need changing in under 16k

Same for me... 16k on the car, RFTs on from new, rears have about 4mm's left, fronts 6mm.

I plan to change mine after my european road trip which will be another ~2k miles, so seems to tally up with everyone elses findings!

got about 27600 miles out of my rears and they still weren`t at the legal limit when I replaced them - probably had another 1000-2000 miles left in them. The car has been used for a lot of motorway driving.

I got about 15K on the rear tires my 2003 Z4 then changed all 4 tires out for Goodyear F1's. The front tires still had some tread left but I don't recall how much.

Can't say for the rears (had two punctures at different times on the right, then left rear tyres!) but my fronts are up for replacement very shortly. I'll change them with the next service which will be 34k miles.

Wow, you guys must all drive like maniacs! I got 35,000 out of mine. I could have easily gone 3,000+ more, but damaged the left front side-wall hitting a large pot hole.

Looking at these mileages, the Z is pretty light on it's tyres. It shows that it is a good chassis and set up. It could also show up that runflats are as hard as forklift truck tyres which is why the ride is so poor.............. :fuelfire:
