How frequently do you check your pressure?

Coming up on 6 months ownership of my X4 and having added 3000 miles my car advised me to check tyre pressures and perform a reset. When I did I found all the pressures were quite far off the confusing label (2.8 bar rears, 2.2 bar fronts) which got me wondering...

How often should we do checking?
Surely it should be based on age and miles?
How often do you guys check yours?

Every few weeks. You can tell if you're down on psi as the ride feels different. May not be as noticeable in a big suv, but it's definitely noticeable in the Z4, even if you're only down 2 psi.

I am anal about tire pressure and I am glad I am. I just purchased a 2012 35is. The left right rear was showing low pressure when I test drove the car. Dealer put all new run flats on as part of the safety.
I got home a checked air pressure. The new run flat was completely without air. All tires were showing in the green. Found the rim cracked. Yes I have the 19" wheels known for cracking. I took it back and they had to replace the rim and tire. The moral of the story is the tires must be at the correct pressure when you reset the
indicator. It only measures change in pressure not absolute pressure. The dealer had reset the indicator with the one tire completely out of air and that is why it was indicating green. Had I not checked them when I got home I would not have ever known until the tire went to hell and would have had no recourse with the dealer.

I check daily as I have valve stem caps that will show green if the pressure is correct and if there is a pressure drop in the tire the caps will first show yellow for a 1 to 2 pound decrease and if the tire drops more than 2 pounds it turn red.

I check the pressures a couple of times a week, it's great to be able to check the tyre pressures from inside the car :D

.....and yes I actually physically check the pressure once a month

I usually check the tyre pressures after I've cleaned the car before we go out for the day. Its a weekend car, which gets more use in the spring and summer, so over the winter there's less driving and therefore less cleaning and less checking.

Every time I fill up with petrol I check the pressures so usually once maybe twice a month

I take it you know your supposed to check them cold (undriven for 6+ hours) otherwise you will get an artificially high reading.

I always fill up after work, it's less than a quarter mile to the petrol station, so not enough time for the tyres to warm up

Fair enough. Like you say 1/4 mile of gentle driving isn't going to warm them up really.

Its amazing how much difference driving can make though. Honda used to quote 4psi should be added if the tyre has driven a mile or more, quite a bit really and another manufacturer used to quote 3psi.
